Class Experience

US Grade 3
This ongoing class that meets once a week is a great fit for students who are wanting to gain more knowledge and understanding and strengthen their foundational math skills of but not limited to addition and subtraction with regrouping, multiplication, and division, navigating word problems, and learning awesome strategies to help them "attack" all these foundational skills necessary to be successful in third grade.

I present the material in a way that meets all learning styles by verbally discussing the material, often times watching a quick video, and note taking. I feel note taking is a vital life skill and is necessary for the upcoming stages in a person's life. I feel the style of my class will prepare your child to be successful when learning, retaining, and applying knowledge. I teach by using a method which allows me to teach the information, as a class we practice, and the student applies what they have learned. This allows me to properly analyze if the student has truly learned the new information.

I will post summary notes for every class as well as one optional assignment (can post more at request) each week to practice the skill they have learned. I can provide feedback for the assignment as well.

The topics are as follows:

Week 1 Number Patterns, Comparing and Ordering Numbers
Week 2 Learning Time Part 1 (terminology- half past, quarter past etc.)
Week 3 Understanding Time Part 2 (timelines)
Week 4 Time Word Problems
Week 5 Place Value, Rounding, and estimating sums
Week 6 Number Relationships (Fact Families) and Addition and subtracting with regrouping
Week 7 Three Digit Addition
Week 9 Subtract Three Digit Numbers with Regrouping
Week 10 Adding and Subtracting Money
Week 11 Word Problems with Money
Week 12 Fact Families and Multiplication Strategies (arrays and grouping)
Week 13 Multiplication Word Problems
Week 14 Learning Multiplication Properties

Learning Goals

Students will strengthen, practice, and learn foundational math skills that are vital for 3rd grade.
