Oh no!! Leroy the Leprechaun's gold has been stolen from a big, ugly giant who lives in a castle in the sky! Leroy doesn't have any magic beans to grow a beanstalk like the Giant has, but he can use his magic leprechaun powers to ascend into the clouds by rainbow! You have to help Leroy get up to the castle in the sky and retrieve his pot of gold! In this super fun math quest, students will solve many types of math problems in order to make it through the colors of the rainbow to get to the giant's castle and bring home Leroy's pot of gold! Students will practice multiplication facts (1-12), division facts (1-12), addition (1 to 3-digit numbers with regrouping), subtraction (1 to 3-digit numbers with regrouping), missing addends, place value (thousands, hundreds, tens, ones), and telling time (by 5 minute intervals) as they work through the quest. **Students should bring paper and pencil or a whiteboard and marker to work out the math problems if needed. At the beginning of class, we will have introductions and answer some fun St. Patrick's Day related questions before getting started with the quest. Then, students will watch a short intro video of what is going on with Leroy the Leprechaun and his missing gold. Then, we will begin the quest! All math problems will be projected to the classroom shared screen, and students will tell me which answers to click on as we go on our math adventure. We will be working as a whole group and each student will be called on to give answers for different questions. Please be sure that your learner brings some scratch paper and a pencil or a dry erase board and marker to work out their problems if they need to. At the end of the quest, we will take a poll as to which option we should end with and see how our story ends! After class, I will send a certificate of completion to each student for solving the quest and to celebrate what great Math Explorers they were! Now, let's have some FUN learning math!! I look forward to seeing your learners in the classroom!!
