This course will explore multiplication tables 1 through 10 in 3 Weeks. We will make it fun by using various manipulatives to learn the fundamental concept of multiplication. We will use hands-on activities in the first weeks and other activities in the subsequent weeks to improve their understanding and memorization of multiplication. Students will learn multiple strategies for solving the problems including the commutative property of multiplication, repeated addition strategy, groups strategy and using arrays to solve multiplication problems. Students will follow along with their own manipulatives to create multiplication problems, display repeated addition, create groups, and form arrays. Week 1- 1s and 2s, 3s, 4s Week 2- 5s, 6s, 7s Week 3- 8s, 9s, 10s This is not a fast-paced class. We will take our time while using the manipulatives. We will solve a variety of problems in each fact family each week. I would describe my teaching style as very encouraging. I enjoy cheering learners on and building their confidence in their ability to solve multiplication problems. I very much enjoy supporting students who are still developing an understanding of multiplication. Supplies: Students can use manipulative from around the house including candy, beans, beads (with a flat side), or any similar small object. The teacher will use a variety of manipulatives to provide variety. Course Level: This is an entry level multiplication course.
