1-2 hours per week. Students must commit to practice each song assigned at least 3 times each day between lessons.Class Experience
This course is meant to follow “#2 Let’s Make Music - Piano Lessons For Beginners”. We will build on the knowledge learned in the previous two classes. Over the course of this 4 week period the students will learn and build upon their skills at their own pace. In this course students will get more familiar with reading sheet music by sight without needing the letters, learn some new simple hand placements, learn about basic time signatures, and some other note values. I ask my students to commit to practicing every song at least 3 times per day. Students MUST have a keyboard or piano to make this class worthwhile. Week One - Introduce time signatures Bar lines and Double bar line "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" Practice getting out of the normal 5 finger position Week Two - Learn to play a song without helper letters Practice sight reading "Pizza Please" RH and LH version Introduce middle C position Week Three - Continue to work on sight reading - more notes introduced "Lavendar's Blue" Learn about eighth notes and dotted half notes Practice leaving the comfortable 5 finger position Week Four - Introduce "Music Alphabet" song This song requires both hands Review of some previously learned material All of this is subject to change - depending on the students level of comprehension. I do not want to rush through basics but also do like to move at a steady pace. The more the students practice outside of class the more productive the lessons will be! *please be on time as I lock the class at 10 mins after start time as per Outschool policy.
Learning Goals
Students will improve and build upon their skills learned in Class #1 and #2. In this course students will learn basic time signatures, more note values, practice coordinating hands, learn other hand placements, and work more on sight reading notes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm so happy you stopped by my profile! I am currently a homeschooling mom, and have been a music teacher for half my life (16 years - you do the math;).
Music has the ability to strengthen the connection beween the body and the brain to help them work together as a team, which is why I incorporate music into a lot of my classes.
The more pathways a student uses for learning something new, the more pathways they have for retrieval of the information. Because of this, I utilize multisensory techniques.
My teaching style is "I tell you, you tell me, you show me".
As per one of my favorite quotes - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
I offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My classes are thorough and time efficient, but I also work at the students pace to be sure they are grasping the concepts as we move along.
