This class is taught in English.
In this module (Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Add and Subtract within 100), students will use fact families to help in addition and subtraction. They will use the strategies of making tens, using even and odd numbers, and using arrays to add and subtract. They will solve 1-step and 2-step word problems within hundreds and understand place value to thousands.
Homework Offered
After the first session each week, I will post 1-2 sheets of extra practice to be completed (if desired). I will also post answers, so students can check their work. We will also review, as needed, in class to clarify understanding.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
In addition to observation throughout the lesson sessions, at the end of the module, an optional, written assessment will be given and feedback provided. Instruction will be adjusted to be sure students master each standard.Grades Offered
Grades can be provided at the end of each module in the form required by your state, if requested. Please request at the beginning of the module.
Students should have a mastery of first grade standards.
Students will need something to write on and with such as paper/pencil, notebook, or a whiteboard/marker. Some lessons will need small manipulatives and those will be identified in advance of the lesson when needed. These will be small , easy to obtain things you have around the house.
