In this ongoing class, learners will be engaged in fun, interactive common core math lessons (all standards) to learn something new or enhance their previous skills!

Class experience

Students will learn and master the standards in each unit as listed in the schedule.
I can recognize all numbers and their various forms.
I can use addition and subtraction within 100.
I can solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
I can fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.
I can determine odd and even numbers.
I can understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones.
I can count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
I can read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
I can compare two three-digit numbers based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
I can add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
I can explain why addition and subtraction strategies work, using place value and the properties of operations.
I can recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number
of equal faces.
I can identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
I can partition circles and rectangles into
two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths.
I can recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
Learners should bring paper, pencils, and erasers. It might work best to keep a "Math Notebook" for the learner to keep all of his/her work in. Learner may also use whiteboard and marker if desired. I will provide a tens frame and number bond worksheet prior to class for you to print (and possibly laminate or put it in a page protector for continued use).

If possible, please have a set of 20 counters for your learner to be able to use each class. This can be anything from coins, erasers, cheerios/cereal pieces, easter egg halves, lego bricks, small pieces of paper--anything that they can use to move around and count.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
