1 hour per week. Students oral reading will be graded on a rubric. Students reading fluency will be monitored with practice and data collection, and students reading comprehension will be assessed through short multiple choice or open-ended questions.Progress Report

Course Description: Are you a student who can read but struggles with comprehension or finds yourself below grade level? "Becoming a Better Reader: Going from Good to Great" is the perfect course to help you bridge the gap and elevate your reading skills. This course is designed to enhance your comprehension, boost your confidence, and bring your reading abilities to the next level. What Will Be Taught? In this course, you will learn advanced reading strategies, critical thinking techniques, and effective note-taking methods. We will focus on improving your comprehension skills, increasing your reading speed, and making reading a more enjoyable and rewarding experience. What Topics Will You Cover? Understanding and identifying main ideas and supporting details Enhancing vocabulary and decoding unfamiliar words Improving reading fluency and speed Developing critical thinking and analysis skills Techniques for staying focused and retaining information How is Your Class Structured? The class is structured into interactive and engaging sessions that combine lectures, practical exercises, and discussions. Each lesson builds upon the previous one, allowing you to steadily improve your skills and gain confidence in your reading abilities. How Will You Teach? I will use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles. This includes interactive lectures, engaging games, informative slides, and relevant video clips. We will also have group discussions and activities that encourage participation and practical application of the skills learned. What's Your Teaching Style? My teaching style is supportive, interactive, and student-centered. I believe in creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where every student feels comfortable to ask questions, share ideas, and take risks in their learning journey.
