In this introductory songwriting class, students will learn the foundational steps to writing a song on any instrument from a working composer/musician. This is a one-time class that runs for one hour, allowing students with limited schedules to learn and apply basic songwriting concepts. Topics include: - An overview of general songwriting methods - Utilizing and analyzing patterns - Group workshop - Feedback - Q & A No prior experience necessary. While an instrument is suggested, it is not required.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and apply methods of songwriting and will leave this one-time class with an idea for a rough draft of an original song. This class intends to instill a love for the craft of songwriting through exploration.Other Details

Rob Morton is a working composer/musician who has composed, performed, and recorded 13 full-length albums and thousands of songs. He has toured the United States dozens of times, performed in every setting imaginable, and has received numerous year-end awards for his compositions. When he is not working on music, he teaches Adult Education at a public school in Minnesota. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing and a Masters Degree in Education.Reviews
