If you would love to explore space, don't start with Venus! Venus is no place to call home. Volcanoes, lightning storms, sweltering heat, and many other dangers await any explorers foolish enough to book a vacation to Hotel Venus. In this one-time class, students will learn 10 different ways for humans to meet their doom on Venus.

I will use a self-created PowerPoint with many visuals such as pictures and short videos to teach this course. I will begin class with an introduction to Venus, including its location, composition, and relative size to Earth. Then we will begin to explore 10 features that make Venus so dangerous to humans. Students will receive a handout that they can complete to keep track of these 10 dangers while class is being taught.

I am known for my energetic and interactive teaching style, and will keep learners engaged through discussion, questioning, humor, visuals, and some built-in mini quizzes.

If your learner enjoys this class, they may also enjoy other science classes I offer:
Beyond Belief: Incredible Facts from Science and History
Fantastic Failures: Accidental Inventions
Fantastic Failures 2: Even MORE Accidental Inventions
Gross Science: All About Cockroaches!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the many dangers humans would face on Venus.

Hello! My name is April and I am a life-long educator from Iowa. I have a Master's degree in education and more than 18 years of teaching experience at many different age levels. Most of my experience falls between 4th-8th grade, but I have spent time at almost every grade level!

I am known for my energetic and interactive teaching style. I am a passionate educator who loves to smile and laugh. I am skilled at meeting kids at their unique ability and maturity levels. I love teaching science and history, and I do my best to choose classes that will entertain and/or inspire. I have a soft spot for exceptional students whom often get left behind in our current school system. I believe all students have gifts to share with the world.

In my free time, I love geocaching, roller-skating, reading, and playing one of my many board games with my husband and 12-year-old daughter. I have a slight obsession with coffee and movies from the 80's.
