Class Experience

In this 1 Week Dance Camp, we will learn all about the wonderful world of Ballet and Jazz Dancing through imagination and fun! From being royalty to sea animals and more, each class will have a theme, and your Learner is encouraged to dress up or bring a favorite stuffie to have with them as they dance!

Class will always start with a welcome and a Question of the Day so we can have share time and get to meet one another! In each class we will begin with 30 minutes of Ballet technique followed by 30 minutes of Jazz dancing. Students will learn pertinent vocabulary related to both dance styles as well as think creatively and have FUN with mini dances that we will learn in each class!

      Class Schedule:
MONDAY- Royalty at the Palace: Let’s learn how to be royal and graceful as we practice Ballet plié, pointing and balances, and Jazz dance tendu, precision, and chassé with confidence!
TUESDAY- Under the Sea: Like sea animals we will glide around our rooms as we practice Ballet walks, rélevé, and chaîné turns, and Jazz battement and double tuck jumps!
WEDNESDAY- Teddy Bear Picnic: Bring your favorite stuffie as we turn and twirl together at the Teddy Bear Picnic in Ballet and Jazz with moves like soutenu turns, quick chaîné, 3 step turns and more!
THURSDAY- Zootopia: We will practice our balances like flamingos and other animals on land as we work on Ballet passé and beginning arabesque, and Jazz passé piqué across the floor!
FRIDAY- Colors of the Rainbow: Dress up in your favorite color as we go on a rainbow hunt, practicing all of the Ballet and Jazz dance moves we have learned together throughout the week!

No prior knowledge of Ballet or Jazz is expected.

Music used will be classical and piano, Disney, and Kidz Bop

I will demonstrate and break down all movement, step by step, so all students are set up for success and can have fun learning together!

Since Ballet and Jazz dancing is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk associated with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely.

As a teacher, I aim to always create a warm and welcoming environment in my classes where all students have the opportunity to learn, grow and explore their inner creativity! Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything additional I can do to make your child more at ease in my classes.

Learning Goals

At the end of this camp, students will have an understanding of basic Ballet and Jazz vocabulary as well as learn how to memorize and utilize movement through learning mini dances in each class.
