When your kid makes a piece of art, they’re also building confidence, processing feelings, and creating connections. That’s what we’re celebrating with the Outschool Visual Arts Showcase—and your kid could win up to $1,000 USD* in prize value, a one-year Outschool Membership and a billboard in Times Square!

My name is Charlotte and I love drawing animals. This drawing makes me feel good and I am proud of it. What inspires me is mostly nature and animals like big trees, cute foxes, and sometimes my pets. Another thing that inspires me is books! I LOVE reading and they really help give me ideas for drawings. One more thing that inspires me is other drawings and paintings.

I drew an astronaut because astronauts really inspire me. They get to go to space and see things that most people will never get to see, like planets, stars, and the Earth from really far away. I think that is amazing. It must take a lot of bravery and hard work to become an astronaut, and that makes me admire them even more. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be an astronaut in the future. It would be really cool to float in zero gravity and travel on a spaceship.

My piece is called Angry and it is inspired by the Scream by Edvard Munch. When I drew it, it brought back emotions and feelings from when my dog passed away on my birthday. When she died she was young and I thought she was going to live longer. I was so angry and I drew stuff in my classes to help me with my emotions. It helped me to get over it. I was also inspired by the movie Inside Out and the character anger. My sketch teacher taught me how to do dark and light shading with my art.

This mural is inspired by the last seven years I've spent worldschooling with my family across 50 countries. In biodiversity hotspots like Brazil, Costa Rica, and Thailand, I was surrounded by multitudes of vibrant birds and colorful flowers. Traveling filled me with awe, joy, and a deep sense of wonder, so I painted this huge 9' x 12' wall mural. I hope its size and scale invites people who walk by to pause, feel that same wonder, and cherish the beauty of our wonderful world.

From time to time, a specific fascination emerges from the back of my mind: what would various objects and animals look like if they were humans? How would they act as people? What kind of occupations would they take up within society? The term “gijinka” means to personify a non-human object or creature, and designing gijinkas has always been a source of exploration for me! I hope this inspires you to draw inspiration from various household items - they could make fascinating characters!

I have been so lucky to find great art teachers on outschool. I always wanted to learn oli painting and I found the best teacher on outschool. I made this piece for my grandfather because he has eagles that come by a pond near his house. I love painting because when I paint nothing else exists. The only thing that matters is the painting. I never worry about other stuff I just get lost in creating.

Hi, my name is Audrey. I made this drawing of a mother and daughter growing up. It shows them at different stages of life, standing together. I was inspired by this because even though they are both growing and changing, one thing stays the same: they are always together. In my Outschool art classes, I’ve been learning how to make realistic drawings but usually my art style is a bit more cartoon-like. I tried to mix both of my styles in this drawing. I used colored pencils and pen.

My name is Aslan. I am 8 years old and I do an art class. This is one of my favorite projects from class and I wanted to put it in the contest. I used watercolor, oil pastels, and a picture of myself to create this piece. I feel happy when I look at this art and I hope you will, too!

I love all the colors of the rainbow and take every opportunity to use lots of them. Originally, I wanted to create a different picture using acrylic on canvas, but it did not turn out the way I dreamed of. After a bit of trial and error, patience, and determination, I created A Fish Out of Water with liquid paint, straws and brushes. Creating this picture taught me not to give up on an idea and not to be afraid of adjusting my plans. This painting makes me feel happy and proud.

This piece invites the viewer to imagine the beauty of coming home after a long day at sea. The warm colours of the sunset and the reflection on the water show the feeling of a job well done. I found it challenging to create the small details, especially the people and the boat. I loved painting this. I hope that when people look at this artwork, they feel at peace and that they are loved.

I was inspired to make this drawing because I wanted to make an overpowered god-like creature for my own personal monster world. As I was making this creation I felt proud because I was noticing a pronounced upgrade in my drawings with detail, colors, and just overall vibrance or projection. So this is what inspired me to make this drawing, and thank you.
I spend my time learning about birds and taking care of my pet cockatiel named "Popcorn". Birds are fun to play with, can do cool tricks and are pretty. This drawing has two parts that inspire me. One, the bird can fly which represents going after my dreams of becoming an artist. Birds feathers individually are fragile but beautiful and powerful as they give them the ability to soar. Two, the sunset represents that even when something ends, there is still hope.

My piece, Moonlight From Within, is inspired by Columbina from Genshin Impact. I like how she seems calm and peaceful, but also powerful in a quiet way. The broken moon pieces she’s holding represent that the light is part of her. Even if something feels shattered or incomplete, it can still glow and be beautiful. I wanted it to feel like her strength comes from inside. This piece makes me feel calm and thoughtful. It reminds me that even in darker moments, there is still light within you.

I love painting Lord Ganesha because he is the god of new beginnings and always looks so kind. I was inspired by the bright colors of yellow and orange that remind me of a sunny day. When I look at my art, I feel very happy and calm. I hope my painting makes people feel like they have a big, colorful friend watching over them.

Each bubble shows a different part of who I am. The flute shows my focused, connected side - the part of me that loves being in harmony with others. The drums show my wild, energetic side - the part of me that loves the thrill of a big performance. And the guitar shows my private, peaceful side - the part of me that just enjoys being in my own world.

Hi! My name is Brooke and I love anime, manga, drawing, creating stories, and Jesus! It's hard to explain my inspiration for this art piece, but I will try. Basically my character Aiko Atsumari (the subject of my drawing) is looking back at the past, both the good and the bad, which is signified by the direction of the lighting and darkness in the art piece.

My name is Irene. This drawing was inspired by a photo that was taken of me and my sister when we were little. In this drawing is me and my twin sister playing in the waves. In front are the trunks that we used that we had played with. I chose this drawing because I always admired the ocean’s beauty and calmness. The ocean, when I’m near it, makes me very small and tiny. Whenever I am around the ocean, I feel the waves coming to me and hear nothing but the soft crashing.

I painted this because I love surfing and the tropics. I wanted to make a big, bright wave and a warm sunset. I used lots of colors to show the sky and the water moving. The wave is my favorite part because it feels strong and fun, like riding a wave. I just painted what I imagined and let it flow like the ocean.

Hi! I made a silly, sweet dog who rules his cozy home like a king. I love animals, so I gave him big eyes and floppy ears and built him a happy little world with books, plants, and a comfy bed. It makes me feel warm, playful, and proud—like I’m right there hanging out with him!
Hi, I’m Zayden! Digital art inspires me because it helps me connect with people in ways words can’t. I used existing video clips to create something new through my own editing and digital art. I like turning moments into feelings people can experience. Creating this helped me see what’s possible when I use my creativity. I made it myself without AI.

My name is Bella. And what inspired my art is a painting I did when I took a break from my drawing. I blended a bunch of colors together and that was my idea for the background . Then I painted a HUMMING BIRD because they are my second favorite birds . My art makes me feel calm because the flowers and the backGround colors are beautiful to me. I hope you judges like it too!

I made this piece based off of a book that I read. In the book, this girl (Willa), has a satchel, and it is full of all these little trinkets as shown on the artwork, including jewelry and bows. This drawing makes me feel proud, because I think that it turned out really well and really captured the feel of the book.

I am a 5th grade student who enjoys drawing and expressing my feelings through art. I chose to submit this drawing because it is my first realistic eye drawing and because an eye can show emotions without using words. In this piece, I tried to show a mix of feelings like curiosity, nervousness, and hope. This drawing makes me feel proud, and it reminds me that it’s okay to have a lot of different emotions while I’m growing and learning.

My name is Evan and I am 11 years old from Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up in Arizona, my inspiration is the desert sunset of the Sonoran. Some people don’t view the desert as beautiful, but I do. I love looking out at the magnificent mountains, the tall Sahuaro Cacti, and the sun falling behind the landscape. The desert view inspires me to explore and see what lies beyond the mountains. I am color blind, so I chose to create this artwork in a black and white sketch, showing detail in the shading.
When I was younger I didn’t like any sports to play in my free time. Then I discovered my passion. Drawing. Soon I later learned that the pen and paper was my power. Every artwork I make makes me feel proud and want to continue my art journey. From what began as a stickman evolved into an artwork that made people happy. :)

Me and my Mom are traveling around the world for a year and I love to sing. We got to see a lot of cool things and I thought it was amazing to see all the different animals. I took a busking class and learned how to write my own song about what it’s like to go on adventures. I drew the art and wrote the music too!

I’m a young artist who’s been drawing digitally for the past nine years. I’ve always had a sort of fascination with cities and the mystical appeal they have at night. The idea of so many different people of varying origins having so many different experiences all in one place always appealed to me. The serenity that a night cityscape offers is what inspired me to create this piece and I sought to capture the sort of contemplative, deeply soothed atmosphere that only a glowing city can provide.

I am the one, the only; ARAN!!! (Ahem, sorry) As seasons have passed, I've become more entranced every year by the beauty of fall all around the world. I found that trees in their autumnal state are so naturally well captured in art, so that is what I did. To be specific, this is a portrayal of a path through the Green Mountains National Park. I've destroyed 3 brushes, missed some homework, and have a sore back, so as long as your life may go on happily ever after, I say this: VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!

Music has something to offer nearly everyone! If you like writing, you can write music. If you like an instrument, you can play it. If you like singing, you can sing. If you like art, you can make album covers. If you like organizing, you can be a manager. There’s so much opportunity! Throughout history, people have used music to spread messages of inspiration, and I hope that this piece inspires you! Music has inspired me so much as an avid singer, and I just love listening to it so much!

My name is Sebi and I love penguins. I invented a world where there's a team of Ninja Penguins that save other animals and defeat evil bad guys. In this painting they're celebrating after saving all the other penguins that were captured by Evil Richard and put in a zoo. They're all free now and the Ninja Penguins are having tea! Ninja Kick KaPow!

I really love cherry blossoms. I also really love drawing people wearing ruffled clothing or wrinkles. The two just formed together on my paper. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I had considered adding pink, but when I set my pencil down, it just felt finished.

Hi my name is Valentina and I love drawing and sewing.I also love bows and bedazzling things so I had to put it in my art piece!! I was inspired by my fashion design class. We did runway fashion this week. It makes me feel happy and joyful!! I hope you love it.🩷🎀

This painting became something I didn't plan. It started as a detailed raven inspired by Death Cab for Cutie, but the more layers I added, the more it became its own thing. The layering reminded me of memory, how you can't pull something back cleanly. It's just there at the edge of what you can see. When I look at it now, I feel something peaceful and uneasy at the same time. Sometimes what something leaves behind tells you more than the thing itself ever could. That's what this is about for me.

Hi, I am Alyssa. I was inspired to draw this piece because I love dogs and plan to volunteer at a shelter in the future. I heard that black dogs tend to stay in shelters longer because they are less likely to be adopted. I hope this drawing inspires others to volunteer at a dog shelter or adopt a dog.

Hi, my name is Olivia and I love animals, nature, and creating art. This is a picture of me (Or you or just someone else)looking up from the ocean floor and seeing all kinds of fish, sea grass, and coral. They also find a seahorse, sea turtle, and a narwhal. On the sides you see are sea rocks.(or maybe just rocks in the ocean)They go from dark to light as representing the dark ocean floor to the rocks near the surface.(or more close to the surface)I hope you find this drawing very cool and fascinating!

Hello 👋 I am Finlay and I LOVE drawing dragons! This piece was inspired by my favourite book series 'Wings Of Fire' and it's this dragon's final moments of peace before venturing out to battle at dawn, wondering if it will be his last. It makes me realize how far I have come with my art and dragon drawings.

I like to create digital art and this just popped into my mind to create.

This piece is inspired by authenticity and friendship. During the time I made this piece, I met some really amazing and accepting people who I felt happy and safe around. They gave me the courage to be myself, which is something I really needed at the time. The characters featured in this piece are of my own design. They represent the kinship I found with my new friends, and the individuality that I learned to express for myself!

This is a character from Forsaken, a roblox game, and he is my favorite character. I drew him because he has a very easy and simple design! What inspired me was my brother, because he really likes that game and made a drawing of all the characters for our art class, so I thought I'd make one as well of just one character.

Hello I'm Milana! I really love to draw and I tried to explain through this drawing how much the sky and the stars means to me... It's like something you always look up to and that shines bright! I'm this drawing there's a dragon that grants the power of the little girl that can summon the northern lights with the background of the stars

I’ve always loved art as long as I can remember, but the aspect I love most about it is how a person can imagine what it is. I hope that is what this piece represents to you. This was also a way for me to express different art styles that I admire. My portfolio is primarily all gaming related, and this is my first attempt at drawing...well...myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Hello! I am Laelah I'm 11 years old, and a young artist. What inspired me to make this art piece? Well for one I am a Swiftie and I love making art, I thought it would be fun to draw The Life of a Showgirl album and plus Taylor Swift is a good person to look up to. Anyways Laelah out! Thanks for reading ^^

My name is Maria and I'm 10 years old. I live in Spain but the platform doesn't let us put it in, so we put United Kingdom. I chose to draw these mermaids because... I don't know, maybe because mermaids look cool. I love drawing, especially fantasy so this was pretty nice to draw. Toodles!

This piece was inspired by my oc Valkyrie. She is kind of a neutral evil type of character who gets annoyed easily. I wanted to draw her angry as I have drawn her happy a lot so I wanted to try something new. I made this piece using watercolors and paint pens. Thank you for reading!

This is a drawing of a dragon made of shimmering crystal mosaic pieces, the background is filled with crystal roses and raindrops. Rainbows often symbolize hope and new beginnings, while roses are used to symbolize love, all of which are things that inspire me. This piece took 5 hours and 57 minutes, and was created in Procreate.

This piece shows what it's like to be me. My brain is wired differently than many people’s, so I notice things and understand the world in my own way. Like me, the figure is vulnerable, but also calm and focused. The shapes above me are the things that help me orientate and stay attached to the world, like time, patterns, and space. Showing the world what it's like to be me makes me feel strong.

Hi! I'm Esme and I love drawing hedgehogs, acrylic painting, and paper quilling my own designs. My submission is of my new cousin, Lucy. Lucy has a cute turned-up nose like my aunt does, and I love her so much. I am proud of my drawing of her because I used all of the drawing skills I know: shading, blending, and making the shapes before drawing the details.
