The rain storm makes me feel annoyed and stressed until I see the rainbow. First I’m sad because the rainbow is broken, but I notice the rainbow can still reform so then I am happy because it means the sun is coming up. I hope you will enjoy my work.

Even outside in my neighborhood, I can find inspiration for my art. Something about the fresh air helps me clear my head when I am anxious or too excited that I can’t focus and do my work. The small page curl in the corner and the quotes in the cloud & mountain represents my love of reading. The way that the words dance on the page just fills me with wonder.

Hi, I’m Mia. I was inspired to draw this by my love for cats! Though it is not my cat, which I have two, it reminds me of my cat. I used 2B for outlining and chalk pastels for coloring. I took the risk of at first using alcohol markers, and when I didn’t like it, I decided to use chalk pastels. I had to cut the cat out and glue it on another piece of paper. I've had a passion for art from a young age, and I want to prove to myself how far I've come. I used the impasto technique to really bring the subject off the canvas. I wanted to create a sense of movement with the strokes of the paint fanning out from the wings and adding texture to the scales. I wanted this to feel like you could pluck it straight out of the canvas. I made shape of the flowers and the background more suggestive, blurry; trying to create a depth that pushes the moth forward.
