Hi! I am James, and I like to express myself through art. I drew this specific piece a few years back for a project at my school. Once the outline was completed, I separated the head into sections (some are special shapes). I knew I was taking a risk with shading but I wanted to improve. I used 2B, 4B, and 6B pencil grades to achieve the dark contrasts that make light shades pop out. I faced many problems such as having trouble with proportions for the pedestal. I hope you consider my art in the final vote and that you were inspired by my image.

This artwork of mine is based on what inspires me - music, my family (from Norway), Tae Kwon Do, and hearts for being kind. In this piece you can also see a bear eating a cake. That cake is actually called ‘Verdens Beste Kake’ meaning ‘Worlds Best Cake’ in Norwegian! It’s a cake that me and my grandma make together for our families birthdays. It’s really special to me, and she inspires me so much. The background is based off of me and things I like/inspire me, which means a lot to me.

My piece was inspired by Dr. Seuss "The Lorax" and by the plaque that the Apollo 11 astronauts left on the Moon, declaring that they had come in peace for all mankind. Both inspired the main idea of the piece: everyone and everything is dependent upon everyone and everything else, and together we can do almost anything. Apollo 11 also gave my piece it's theme: space! I feel like I did a good job, especially on the Moon, and that my piece conveys what it's meant to convey.

I drew this artwork as a reminder of both downtown Charleston, SC & downtown Augusta, GA. Downtown Charleston has the cobblestone streets and a candy store by the market I would go to buy candy from with my family. The dress I drew in the window reminds me of an alteration shop in downtown Augusta I once visited and saw a beautiful dress in the window of the store. Both places make me feel nice and sweet because I've had great experiences at those places and loved putting them into my artwork.

She is fishing by the river with her cat beside her. You can see their reflections in the water. Far away in the wilderness, there is a rainbow that you can faintly see in the sky.

Hi, I’m Mia. I was inspired to draw this by my love for cats! Though it is not my cat, which I have two, it reminds me of my cat. I used 2B for outlining and chalk pastels for coloring. I took the risk of at first using alcohol markers, and when I didn’t like it, I decided to use chalk pastels. I had to cut the cat out and glue it on another piece of paper. I really like marvel, and my favorite character is spider-man! A well known friend of spider-man’s is Deadpool, so obliviously I had to draw them taking a break from hero work!

When i grow up i want to build robots so i decided to design one that i will build later on. I am also very happy with it and the work i put in to do it.

My drawing is called Winter Day. Drawing this made me feel peaceful. I imagined the crisp cold air, the softness of the snow, and the joy that comes with a winter day. I wanted to show how winter looks, and how it feels. It looks so beautiful. Even though I live in a place where a lot of snow is rare, I thought of my past memories of playing in the snow with my sister and what a perfect snowy day would look like.

My dog inspired me to make this drawing. She is very cute and fuzzy but I love her personality best. She is very energetic and sweet. I also love watching her sleep. I made the art piece using pencils. The pencils I used were 2B, 4B and 6B. This was the first time I’ve used different pencil grades. Some of the trials I’ve had with this drawing were getting the shapes right and getting the lines straight. But the biggest struggle I had was getting the lines light enough.

Hi my name is Cristina! This piece was inspired by one of the protagonists in my favorite novel series, The Powerless trilogies' Kai Azer. In the story his childhood is full of battles. The battles of his own fears and the battles of protecting the people he loves. As a Bear protects it's family and it's forests, this is the perfect animal to present Kai (his bouncy brown curls and a Bears brown fur match as well). This drawing came out much better than expected! I am very proud of my creation.

My name is Evan and I am 11 years old from Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up in Arizona, my inspiration is the desert sunset of the Sonoran. Some people don’t view the desert as beautiful, but I do. I love looking out at the magnificent mountains, the tall Sahuaro Cacti, and the sun falling behind the landscape. The desert view inspires me to explore and see what lies beyond the mountains. I am color blind, so I chose to create this artwork in a black and white sketch, showing detail in the shading.

This painting represents the love I have for animals. And yes, I’m the kind of kid who watches a bird feeder for hours. When I spot a small sparrow, I don’t view him as an annoyance; I see him as a creature who has friends, a life, and a personality. This mountain lion’s gaze shows the trauma he’s experienced, the loss he has endured, and life he has known. It inspires me to know that even when life is tough, there is always a way out.

I get really sleepy in math class. To keep myself awake, I often doodle. I started to draw snakes because it just felt natural. After school, I look up some snake pictures - and then, I start drawing. Drawing these snakes is a lot harder than it looks! And then - BOOM! - I drew this snake.

I had mistakenly drawn over the ears with colored pencil, which made it impossible to erase. I overcame this problem by using a sand eraser, which was the perfect tool for the job.
