That’s what we’re celebrating with the Outschool Visual Arts Showcase—and your kid could win up to $1,000 USD* in prize value, a one-year Outschool Membership and a billboard in Times Square!

The first thing you should know about me is that I love to write - and of course, draw! This illustration is the cover for a novel that I currently am writing. It is a love story about a girl and a prince who despite their circumstances, build their own happy ending. This book in particular is inspired by my favorite author, Jane Austen. This story holds special meaning for me because I have been working on it since I was seven years old.

Hello! I’m Eva, and I’ve created a drawing inspired by Ejae. The doodles in the center represent lyrics from her songs. She began singing Kpop songs at 3, but was rejected as a Kpop trainee at 23 after 10+ years of very hard work. The stripes represent her hardship. Yet Ejae didn’t give up, and is now a singer/songwriter, and the singing voice of Rumi from “Kpop Demon Hunters”. She can relate to the character a lot, herself. The color splotches represent emotion. I love drawing and music, too.

Hi! I love drawing I started when my older cousin inspired me too draw. What inspired to make this art work is because of flexibility, I can do a hand stand so I thought why can't my paper! After I was finished and I read through the artwork page thing and I saw it said to be creative undecided to go for it! I added a lot of neon and shiny colors to make it pop I really enjoyed making the art work and I hope you did too :)

I've had a passion for art from a young age, and I want to prove to myself how far I've come. I used the impasto technique to really bring the subject off the canvas. I wanted to create a sense of movement with the strokes of the paint fanning out from the wings and adding texture to the scales. I wanted this to feel like you could pluck it straight out of the canvas. I made shape of the flowers and the background more suggestive, blurry; trying to create a depth that pushes the moth forward.
My name is Malcolm. I want to be an animator and am inspired by cartoons. I love early 2000's cartoons. I like 2D animation better and love drawing them. I am creating my own animation studio and tv show and this video shows some of my characters beginning to be created and be shown on TV. It is "to be continued" because it is just the beginning, with more to come. I am happy and proud of it because I worked on it for hours. Thanks.

My name is Hayley, I am twelve years old and I love my mom. Me and my mom love to travel, and draw, and bake I made this drawing for her because it reminds me of watching the sunrise every morning, and all of our plane trips everywhere I hope (wink wink) you like my art! Thank you!

My name is Misha I am from Tampa Florida. I was inspired by my cat, Hunter, and my dad who is a musician. I am also a musician who is learning to play the piano and the guitar. The reason I picked a cat is because I love cats so much, and I picked a piano because I am learning the piano. I made a digital art using Procreate which I have learned thanks to Outschool and Ms. Uli. I used different gradients and some special brushes to create a lovable character Rock Star Kitty.

I like to look at old houses and think about the people who have lived in them. It makes me sad to see old houses be demolished. It seems not many people care. I wish I could save all the old houses; thats why drew this old house in the yard it was meant to be in. I hope that you enjoy thinking about who lived in this house. for my drawing I used: acrylic paint, oil pastel, and colored pencil. It took me 4 weeks to complete-i made the house bent and uneven to make it look old but cozy.

Hi, I'm Samantha! My art piece was inspired by mindfulness and self-reflection. I chose the words aspiring, peace, hope, love, passion and reflection because they inspire and resonate with me. I love art because it is a beautiful way to express yourself and inspires hope.

My name is Maeva, I've been drawing realistic and cartoon since I was very young. My personal favorite style of drawing is anime; it's opened up such a massive world for me and lets me be inspired everyday by the wonders found in the small details. I decided to draw this picture with one of my favorite shows in mind, I hope to make my own series and one day be able to include this scene I have created, I hope this brings you as much joy as it brought me, to make and present to you.

My name is Paul. I drew this for my teacher because we both love cats. Cats inspire me with their unique mix of strength and calm. They are agile, balanced, and aware, yet also know how to rest. Their senses are very sharp, allowing them to notice things that people might miss. At the same time, cats are excellent at staying calm under pressure. Their independence and confidence remind me to trust myself. This drawing makes me feel strong and encourages me to pursue my goals with focus.

Ms. Amy inspires us to draw landmarks from all over the world. This week we sketched the Alhambra gateway in Spain, in under 40 minutes. She teaches us techniques to be efficient and draw in our own style. This is my favorite after-school activity. I look forward to it every week!

Hello, my name is Aiden. My inspiration is about positivity overcoming negativity. My story lead to tough times in my life, and leading to negativity consuming me. I was drowning in it. I needed help, and I did get help. I was able to be free from the chains that held me tight. It may leave you with a scar, but what shapes you into what you are now, and I have some. I thank God for being there for me, and everyone else. Hear my message: positivity will defeat negativity, let it shine in you.

My name is Joslyn I've always loved art and trying different art forms or drawing styles, I also really love indie horror games like Mucorales or Pumpkin panic. I wanted to give my piece a more eerie or melancholic vibe which is why I used darker colors for it. I was inspired by how unicorns were originally depicted in stuff like The last unicorn and how the unicorns look slimmer, and just look more majestic when their less bulky and horse-like. I'm very proud of my piece and i hope you like it.

I've always loved art as a way to express myself. This picture has different layers and is a bit mysterious. It was inspired by the fact that people, like myself and my friends, are always changing and growing on the inside and out. Growth is not always perfect or beautiful but it matters and it must be embraced. Art is helpful to me as a way to say what I can't put into words.

My name is Sylvie, I am a digital/traditional artist that is learning about realism and showing my art to the world. I wanted to make this piece because I think to sum up your life and passion, you could just stack all the activites in the world between two buns and take out the different ingredients (passions) to find the perfect sandwich to eat for the rest of your life. This art piece makes me feel like even if you feel like you don't have a passion, there will always be one out there to try.

I am the one, the only; ARAN!!! (Ahem, sorry) As seasons have passed, I've become more entranced every year by the beauty of fall all around the world. I found that trees in their autumnal state are so naturally well captured in art, so that is what I did. To be specific, this is a portrayal of a path through the Green Mountains National Park. I've destroyed 3 brushes, missed some homework, and have a sore back, so as long as your life may go on happily ever after, I say this: VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!

All the colors of the buildings represent different emotions like how the bright colored ones represent happiness, excitement, and joy, and the ones on the more darker side represent curiosity, anger, and sadness but above all those feelings are a sunny bright sky with beautiful clouds that all look like a painting and I wanted to draw what this feeling is like, thank you if you voted for me!!

I have always loved art because I can be as creative as I want, so long as I don't care how it looks. I've always liked how the moon looks, and it inspired this piece. I decided I would go for a dark tone to highlight the moon. This is a magical forest scene, looking out from deep within. There are two hidden runes and lots of other mysteries if you look closely. I'll leave those for you to find. This piece makes me feel creative and like there's lots more to discover.

My name is Leah and I am a 17 year old artist. One of my biggest inspirations has always been my mom, she inspired me to draw and to start working as a graphic designer. Since my mom is an artist, I loved drawing from a young age, and I’m grateful to her for encouraging and helping me improve. My most treasured memories is when my mom read me Russian fairy-tales before bed, so I wanted to capture that moment in my drawing.

Art can be so different and have so many meanings, but this piece inspires me because it shows that even the smallest, quiet things have strength and resilience. It reminds me that I am strong even when I’m quiet. By facing obstacles with heart and hard work, I’ll find my way through the overwhelming moments. Above all, it shows I can grow with quiet strength and steady hope, as long as I keep trying and have the confidence to do so.

I was inspired to paint the desert during one of my watercolor classes in Outschool. I liked the subject because, even in the rough & rocky terrain you can find something beautiful. I like cactuses because they can survive through the toughest weather and still make it. It’s important to remember that even if you get discouraged - you are the cactus…you can survive anything! I don’t actually live where cactuses grow, so imagining them was my challenge.

Hi, I'm Matthew. I like gaming, art, music, collecting things, and metal detecting. I made this piece because I was going through an odd period where my dreams were extremely vivid and colorful, but at the end would become almost distant and would fade to white before ending, almost is if they were trying to tell me, "This isn't real" before fading away. This piece reminds me of those times and makes me feel oddly satisfied and wildly confused with this strange period of bizarre dreams.

My name is Addison and I love pigs because they are pink and cute. I especially like piglets because they are small and you can hold them. I also love when they oink! I drew these pigs to show how happy and friendly they are. This picture makes me feel happy and drawing them made me smile, and I hope it makes other people smile too.

My grandparents live in Rome and I would like visit London and Rome. It’s a magical bridge that can take you to different places. The colors are bright and make me feel happy. My favorite parts are the Colosseum and the colors of the water. The person on the bridge is me.

Totally Awesome Outdoor Show, is a YouTube channel about bushcraft, survival and living in the woods, and it really inspires me! My name is Matthew and in this drawing I wanted to show camping on the edge of the woodland. I really feel the warmth of the fire and I'm so happy about it.

I drew an astronaut because astronauts really inspire me. They get to go to space and see things that most people will never get to see, like planets, stars, and the Earth from really far away. I think that is amazing. It must take a lot of bravery and hard work to become an astronaut, and that makes me admire them even more. Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be an astronaut in the future. It would be really cool to float in zero gravity and travel on a spaceship.

In my drawing there is a young girl finding her peace through meditation, by sitting in a serene environment surrounded by nature. This inspires me because whenever I meditate, I feel eternal peace washing over me, and I feel like I can forgive any unkind action that anyone has ever done to me. I think the art of meditation is a beautiful thing that inspires me deeply. The first time I meditated I felt changed completely, and for the better. This drawing resembles how I feel when meditating.

This is a character from Forsaken, a roblox game, and he is my favorite character. I drew him because he has a very easy and simple design! What inspired me was my brother, because he really likes that game and made a drawing of all the characters for our art class, so I thought I'd make one as well of just one character.

Hi, I'm Bay and ever since I was little, I've loved drawing my favorite characters and making up my own, giving them past and motivation. I've also always loved role-playing (and later, DND). I could take a break from the real world and go on an epic quest. Then I got Minecraft. The fact that you could create your own world and style of playing was so inspiring. So I took those three interests and challenged myself to draw my Minecraft character, and I was happily surprised by the result!!

Hi,I'm Olivia I drew this during Covid while worried about things in the world & we stayed at home a lot. First the virus, sick people, then the fires in our neighborhood, houses burnt, smoke was everywhere. I saw littering everywhere too at the beach and water showed high bacteria. The world felt stressed like me. I wished for something to change all of that. Learning flags of countries in geography made me think of creating a world peace sign & a hope drawing for things to get better one day.

I love drawing even if i'm not great at it. This ballerina is imagining herself on stage dancing for an audience and she's expressing herself with dance. I was in a art class when my teacher said dancers are what we will be drawing and i chose her because of my very own love for dance.

Hi! My name is Cassandra, I enjoy drawing anime and manga style art. The inspiration for my piece is the emotions I feel when I reflect on my self. This piece to me, expresses deep reflection and contemplation. I feel calmly happy when I look at this, and I want others to feel that too. :D

The picture is called Spring. It makes me feel calm and happy. I like how the sky looks soft and colorful at the end of the day. I am a child. I love drawing, especially with paints. I like playing with my cat and my friends.

I am an entrepreneur who enjoys developing marketing materials for businesses. I like to practice making logos, brochures, flyers, and business cards. This is my favorite logo I have created because it is simple but unique. It's an art piece that catches people's attention and makes them want to learn more about the business.

I was inspired by the way ancient civilizations used the night sky to know where they were going. I wanted to convey that in my drawing, but also how things might look messy and complicated until you look at the big picture, like the art style of Starry Night.

I love animals, especially wolves and baby wolf pups. Wolves are my favorite because they are part of the dog family, and I love dogs. I was inspired to draw this because wolves are strong and protective. They take care of their families and keep each other safe. In my picture, the wolf lives in the mountains like a guardian watching over its home. This makes me feel happy because the wolf is peaceful and free and doing what it loves in nature.

I am Aadvik from Mrs.Roxy class. I love to draw Anime characters. Jujutsu Kaisen is one of my favorite shows. I like Yuji because he is strong and cool :D

This artwork was created by Angeliki with the guidance of her art teacher, Ms. Z, when she was 9 years old. She loves water and exploring nature. This picture makes her feel happy and also gives her a sense of tranquility. She likes it a lot because she hopes to be in a real situation like this one day.

Art is a very calming thing for me. Whenever I am feeling stressed or anxious, I sit down and do some sketching. Recently, whenever I'm sitting on my own, I start thinking about the lighting in the room and how the light from the window reaches everything and makes all of it feel so beautiful. I find myself really wanting to make a painting of it.

This piece came from wanting to create something beautiful and detailed using nature as inspiration. I built up the tree, lantern, and wisteria with clay before painting over it on the Canvas for a 3D effect. It took a lot of time and effort especially when working with details and lighting. This piece pushed me to stay focused and not rush. It reminds me that putting time and effort can turn simple ideas into something unique so I would love to be a finalist or be a fan favourite :)

My name is Leni Gless. I am 11 years and am a 6th grader in Chapel Hill, NC. I love to write stories and draw scenes from my stories to make it come to life. The stories I am currently writing, “Knights of the Impossible”, inspired this drawing. It shows the two main characters from my book, Ariana and her dragon Juco, in their kingdom. The cherry trees around the castle are what make the kingdom special. It makes me feel excited to continue writing my story and draw more scenes.

I enjoy Lego's, reading, building science kits, gaming, nature, and spending time with my family and friends. I also like baseball, swimming, diving, and taekwondo. My art piece was inspired by my uncle. It is colorful with a splash of teeth added in to make the piece Awsome with a dinosaur twist.

this painting is using acrylic, It is my best painting featuring a man following a light with faith, I love this painting for all of the different meaning to it, i don't paint often but when I do I like it as a side project, I also play soccer, piano and I love singing!!

When thought about things that inspire me, one thing stood out- memories! I have many inspiring memories, but the most vivid and meaningful are of small moments. This piece is based on one such memory: of holding my dad’s index finger when my hands were too tiny to hold his hand properly. It makes me feel nostalgic, inspired, and maybe a little wistful. It reminds me to appreciate small things while they’re here, and to cherish the love that made me who I am now, even as memories fade with time

I really like drawing and listening to music, so I wanted to make a picture that shows both at the same time. I got the idea because sometimes when I’m outside, the wind and the trees sound like a song, and it makes me feel calm and happy. It’s like nature is making its own music. I also see butterflies and birds in my backyard and all the flowers blooming. I hope when people see it, they feel calm too and maybe think about the sounds around them in a new way.

For this competition, I chose to draw a tiger. I was inspired by their striking pattern, colour, agility and power. This competition was a perfect time to draw my favourite animal and show how much detail one animal can have. I would love to combine my favourite animal with my passion about art. Drawing this tiger makes me feel proud and excited to show my detail and passion.
