What inspired me to make this piece was how my mind works, how I imagine myself when I come up with a story or world idea and how I'm able to pick up a pen and make it come to life. Downtown Charleston has the cobblestone streets and a candy store by the market I would go to buy candy from with my family. The dress I drew in the window reminds me of an alteration shop in downtown Augusta I once visited and saw a beautiful dress in the window of the store. Both places make me feel nice and sweet because I've had great experiences at those places and loved putting them into my artwork.

I love sunsets and animals

Anime has really inspired me, and it always makes me happy seeing other people art and styles. I go on Pinterest to see people's wonderful art or read manga to get inspired but something has really been bugging me this past week. I've been feeling kind of bored with my art, so I started a new anime, Jojo's bizarre adventure to be exact! I really feel in love with the art style, so I decided to draw my favorite character. This piece took around 20 hours over the span of a week.

I was inspired to paint the desert during one of my watercolor classes in Outschool. I liked the subject because, even in the rough & rocky terrain you can find something beautiful. I like cactuses because they can survive through the toughest weather and still make it. It’s important to remember that even if you get discouraged - you are the cactus…you can survive anything! I don’t actually live where cactuses grow, so imagining them was my challenge.
