That’s what we’re celebrating with the Outschool Visual Arts Showcase—and your kid could win up to $1,000 USD* in prize value, a one-year Outschool Membership and a billboard in Times Square!

I'm Zuwena, and I really like old cartoons. I made this piece inspired by one of my favorites, Mysterious Mose, because it got into the public domain recently. Also I just wanted to depict how loving and being loved in return chases away all negative and mean things people might say about you.

My sister said that it was cool so yeah.

It reminds me of my handheld I got and it makes me happy, the characters in the piece is from the handheld

My piece makes me feel proud of my artist skills. Wolves are one of my favorite animals.

From time to time, a specific fascination emerges from the back of my mind: what would various objects and animals look like if they were humans? How would they act as people? What kind of occupations would they take up within society? The term “gijinka” means to personify a non-human object or creature, and designing gijinkas has always been a source of exploration for me! I hope this inspires you to draw inspiration from various household items - they could make fascinating characters!

My piece, Moonlight From Within, is inspired by Columbina from Genshin Impact. I like how she seems calm and peaceful, but also powerful in a quiet way. The broken moon pieces she’s holding represent that the light is part of her. Even if something feels shattered or incomplete, it can still glow and be beautiful. I wanted it to feel like her strength comes from inside. This piece makes me feel calm and thoughtful. It reminds me that even in darker moments, there is still light within you.

I get really sleepy in math class. To keep myself awake, I often doodle. I started to draw snakes because it just felt natural. After school, I look up some snake pictures - and then, I start drawing. Drawing these snakes is a lot harder than it looks! And then - BOOM! - I drew this snake.

Hi, I'm Matthew. I like gaming, art, music, collecting things, and metal detecting. I made this piece because I was going through an odd period where my dreams were extremely vivid and colorful, but at the end would become almost distant and would fade to white before ending, almost is if they were trying to tell me, "This isn't real" before fading away. This piece reminds me of those times and makes me feel oddly satisfied and wildly confused with this strange period of bizarre dreams.

I'd like to be an artist when I grow up. My dog inspired my piece. When I have negative thoughts (the monsters in my head), she brings me comfort and strength and helps me believe in myself.

Sometimes as humans, we forget the true meaning of life. Sometimes we can get addicted to our phones, our iPads, anything that is technology related and we can sometimes forget how beautiful nature really is. Sometimes when I’m stressed I take my dog out for a walk. When it’s nice out everything is so peaceful, you can forget everything that is bothering you in your life. Nature has inspired me to draw this picture because it brings me the most peace and happiness when I’m feeling overwhelmed.

I have a favorite tree in my grandma’s yard that feels a little magical. It is kind of hidden and I enjoy climbing up and sitting in it. My dog Skibby will often follow me. I also love the Fall and all fairytales so I added in things like the pumpkins and the little gnome. I also love fashion, so I designed a dress I would love to wear with little white butterflies on it. I enjoy drawing, painting and working with clay, so this art piece combines all of these things together.

My name is Ruth! I love drawing cats, birds, and flowers. One of my most recent classes with Miss Michelle Yother inspired this piece. This watercolor painting makes me feel peaceful and happy.

My name is Matea. I am in 5th grade and live in Minnesota. I am a professional actor and I am bilingual. In addition to acting, I love singing and painting. I think cactuses are a delightful part of nature. We don't have any where I live, so when I get to see them in person, I feel cheerful and terrific.

My name is Kahealani and I love to draw. I’m 9 years ago and my dream is to be an artist.

Hello!I have two guinea pigs(one named coconut and one named coal),which I adopted 10 months ago. My favorite show is Hannah Montana. My piece was inspired by hanging out with my mom and looking out into the sunset with her. It makes me feel calm, that's why I named it "The Peaceful Summer".🌸

Hello! I am a young artist who likes to draw digitally, traditionally, and I also create animations! This piece was for my godfather; showing all the fun times we had together in our little group of me, my brother, my friend, and my friend’s brother (the gang:).

Hi, I am Cindyll, and I am 15. For the last year, I have been studying and drawing faces. I found myself especially drawn to eyes. To me, the eye is an amazing creation of beauty and intricacy: the vibrant colors, the way the light reflects on the iris, and the way that they can express emotion that words can’t. I wanted to capture that in my art. In my piece, there is a window reflected in the eye. The eye is truly the window to the soul. You just have to take the time to look.

My name is Addison and I love pigs because they are pink and cute. I especially like piglets because they are small and you can hold them. I also love when they oink! I drew these pigs to show how happy and friendly they are. This picture makes me feel happy and drawing them made me smile, and I hope it makes other people smile too.

My name is Juniper and I am 10 years old. My artwork titled Unicorns in New York symbolizes possibility. Even in tough times, imagination can carry us somewhere new. That is why possibility inspires me the most, it can become anything and I want that for everyone!

This piece shows what it's like to be me. My brain is wired differently than many people’s, so I notice things and understand the world in my own way. Like me, the figure is vulnerable, but also calm and focused. The shapes above me are the things that help me orientate and stay attached to the world, like time, patterns, and space. Showing the world what it's like to be me makes me feel strong.

Roblox is my favourite game, it makes me happy and I wanted to draw a character that makes me happy

Since I love DELTARUNE, I decided to draw a character from one of the game's AUs (alternate universes). I was inspired to draw him because I love his theme song! Scampton is a character from DELTARUNE: Chapter Rewritten. He's a clown who goes insane after being forgotten in a castle dungeon for a long time.

I really like drawing and listening to music, so I wanted to make a picture that shows both at the same time. I got the idea because sometimes when I’m outside, the wind and the trees sound like a song, and it makes me feel calm and happy. It’s like nature is making its own music. I also see butterflies and birds in my backyard and all the flowers blooming. I hope when people see it, they feel calm too and maybe think about the sounds around them in a new way.

I enjoy exaggerating muscles into almost inhuman proportions, so this piece was very enjoyable. My favorite medium is ink with watercolors.

I love drawing. It makes me happy when I imagine myself on the Art Magazine cover model.

This artwork of mine is based on what inspires me - music, my family (from Norway), Tae Kwon Do, and hearts for being kind. In this piece you can also see a bear eating a cake. That cake is actually called ‘Verdens Beste Kake’ meaning ‘Worlds Best Cake’ in Norwegian! It’s a cake that me and my grandma make together for our families birthdays. It’s really special to me, and she inspires me so much. The background is based off of me and things I like/inspire me, which means a lot to me.

I have been creating art since I was a baby. From finger paint and sidewalk chalk to digital art and oil pastels, I love learning new mediums and developing my skills. My piece is inspired by the resilience of nature. In the face of disasters (natural or man-made), something will survive and create a new beauty. When I immigrated to Canada, I experienced loss. Pieces like this helped me find the beauty in change. A tree isn't beautiful because it is static, but rather because it is resilient.

This is an art piece that represents my calm and love for water.

I made it with oil pastels during an art class with April Taylor. I live in the desert, but I love a snowy climate best of all. Winter is my favorite season!

A nice person who loves to draw Anime and other cartoon characters. She said her inspiration came from seeing the shading and the detail of creating the piece. She said the drawing made her happy. We live in Washington, DC, not Washington state.

Hi my name is eli i like drawing charcters from shows and games.

I love the original and retro style animations. I wanted to create my favourite character in that style.

I admire artists who experiment with color, especially Mary Blair, who uses colors that don't always match real life but make you feel a certain way. In this piece, I transform NYC’s busy gray streets into a dreamlike, storybook scene. My goal is to make an overwhelming place feel playful and magical. Inspired by Blair’s concept art, I highlight NYC’s diversity—a patchwork of cultures and people—using geometric shapes and bright colors to show a unified, vibrant rhythm.

I am 6 years old. I learned about Cardinals in my art class and they are colorful, cheerful, and pretty like my parakeets at home!

I have a passion for art and I love to motivate people. I made this piece to inspire people who are going through rough times and feel lost. This piece made me feel happy and inspirational!

Totally Awesome Outdoor Show, is a YouTube channel about bushcraft, survival and living in the woods, and it really inspires me! My name is Matthew and in this drawing I wanted to show camping on the edge of the woodland. I really feel the warmth of the fire and I'm so happy about it.

I was inspired to make this piece because we learned how to draw hands in one of my classes. I really enjoy sketching and shading and I am glad that I found out School to help me excel in my drawings.

What inspired me is that Rainbows are nice, they make me feel calm, beautiful and I love following them everyday.

After a fire ripped through my community and burned my home, I discovered Mary Cassatt. Mary was not only an inspiring woman, she was also a woman who allowed people to have "modern wings." She inspired others to soar above expectations and young girls to take hold of their futures. In her murals, Mary depicted women defying boundaries set for them and this brought me a sense of belonging. In a world of hurt and hatred, community can be defined by women, for women, and with women at the center.

My name is Charli and I like to draw. I love the Lion King and baby Simba is so cute. I also love to sing. This drawing makes me feel happy because this movie holds a special place in my heart.

I drew this dog because dogs make me feel brave and strong. My favorite thing to draw is animals .

I like writing mystery stories. I drew this picture of the Benevolent Lodge Mystery Group to incorporate into a story idea. As I drew, I felt like I was stepping into their world—almost like I was one of the members. It made me feel curious, imaginative, and proud, because the more I worked, the more the group’s personality came to life on the page.

I’m a big fan of poppy playtime and the prototype is the villain of the game. The new game just came out and that where he appeared I was inspired to challenge myself to draw him

I'm inspired by game art

I love painting Lord Ganesha because he is the god of new beginnings and always looks so kind. I was inspired by the bright colors of yellow and orange that remind me of a sunny day. When I look at my art, I feel very happy and calm. I hope my painting makes people feel like they have a big, colorful friend watching over them.

I have enjoyed drawing since I was young. I became serious about art approximately three years ago. Drawing is my happy place, it is my passion. The Doise is a character from a game called Pizza Tower. He is funny, chaotic, and theatrical in a comical way. My goal is to attend art school after I graduate from high school.

Raelyn started drawing last year and has come very far! She loves drawing people with different fashion styles and is working on animals as well. Raelyn wants to share her art and for people to know that the more you practice, the better you will get!

My name is Evie. I’m homeschooled and I have been taking art class for 3 years with Ms. Z. I chose to draw penguins and title my piece Love In All Things, because God gave love to all creatures great and small. You can see that penguins love each other because they look after their chicks. It makes me feel good, because God loves penguins and so He must love us. It also reminds me of God’s beauty and grace.

My name is Aria. I love creating art. I enjoy sculpting, sketching, painting watercolor and acrylic. Anything from fashion design to nature or even mythical. This flower represents growth and beauty.

I really like birds that inspired my art! It makes me feel happy, because I like the color pink!

I love animals, especially wolves and baby wolf pups. Wolves are my favorite because they are part of the dog family, and I love dogs. I was inspired to draw this because wolves are strong and protective. They take care of their families and keep each other safe. In my picture, the wolf lives in the mountains like a guardian watching over its home. This makes me feel happy because the wolf is peaceful and free and doing what it loves in nature.
Me and my Mom are traveling around the world for a year and I love to sing. We got to see a lot of cool things and I thought it was amazing to see all the different animals. I took a busking class and learned how to write my own song about what it’s like to go on adventures. I drew the art and wrote the music too!

This was a recent class project on fruits that I completed, and I chose my favorites. I started to like red, so I chose apples and a pear with red in the background.

it inspired me beacuse i like super heros so i made my own it teels a lot about me i hope you like it

My main inspirations for art are imagination and fantasy. I love making mystical creatures and they incline me to do what I love: drawing. While I love drawing fantasy animals, I also enjoy drawing still lives and realistic portraits. I added hints of both reality and fantasy through everyday items and magical items, like the socks or the floating musical notes.

I grew up in a city and I loved the wonder of these sky-reaching monuments with many people all doing their own thing. I also liked seeing how ecosystems function like jungles and oceans. So I based this piece off of the idea of conserving and having industrialization and cities being in harmony and intertwined with the natural world. It makes me feel hopeful for what humanity can do if we'd allow ourselves to function with nature and actually make an effort to conserve the beauty of ecosystems.

Hi! I made a silly, sweet dog who rules his cozy home like a king. I love animals, so I gave him big eyes and floppy ears and built him a happy little world with books, plants, and a comfy bed. It makes me feel warm, playful, and proud—like I’m right there hanging out with him!

I've had a passion for art from a young age, and I want to prove to myself how far I've come. I used the impasto technique to really bring the subject off the canvas. I wanted to create a sense of movement with the strokes of the paint fanning out from the wings and adding texture to the scales. I wanted this to feel like you could pluck it straight out of the canvas. I made shape of the flowers and the background more suggestive, blurry; trying to create a depth that pushes the moth forward.

I am a multi media artist, sometimes I’m sewing, sometimes I’m drawing, and sometimes I’m sculpting. This is my most recent piece, she is a bengal tiger, her name being a reference to life of pi’s bengal tiger Richard Parker. She makes me feel peace, she is content with comfort but she still looks for things other people won’t see.

Hi!! I'm Sheherazade ;D I'm 12 yrs old I absolutely LOVE astronomy and outer space!!!! That's how I got inspired to make this piece. It makes me feel relaxed, at peace, and amazed because how how beautiful it truly is. I know it definitely looks nothing like real space butI hope ya still like it!!

The night sky is very impressive.

I enjoy making art because it gives me a creative outlet, and I love designing characters. I like how I was able to use realism, and I enjoyed how it turned out.

I love bright colors and cool textures. I am always looking for fun ways to make my art pop! I was inspired by Pop Art and how one thing can look so different in a bunch of colors. I used bubble wrap as a stamp for the background. It looks like giant sprinkles. It was so satisfying to dip the bubbles in paint and press them down! This art work makes me feel happy and energized. All the neon colors remind me of a sunny summer day when I’m about to eat my favorite ice cream!

Even though I am not able to drink coffee yet, I was inspired by watching my parents drink their morning cups of coffee.

I love animals so I wanted to create a piece that is modern and special while reflecting on nature.

Hi, my name is Claire! These are my original characters, Neal and his dad, the nameless Sun God. This makes Neal a demigod and now Neal is questioning his entire life.

I am 6 and I like photography. The Foster Woods is my favorite place and it inspires me. This sunset at the Foster Woods makes happy. It was just before dark and the light on the barn was on.

This piece is a reflection of how life can seem so good and easy and put together but from the inside it’s hard and complicated. I feel like the soy sauce is like sudden tears in a way. Like how maybe it’s unexpected but happens anyway when you are overflowing with emotions. This piece was a painting my class did and I was really proud of it!

~ Sun and Moon, sisters in soul, pass each other in a fleeting moment of wonder; dancing in starlight. ~ Hello, thank you for reading this and viewing my art! My name is Madeline and I've always loved making art, but I didn't start digital art until 2020 during the pandemic. Since then I have enjoyed following my art journey wherever it has led me. The inspiration for this piece came from eclipses as the concept has always fascinated me, and I recently viewed one from my backyard.

I have a lot of inspirations for this piece, but the main ones are otters and axolotls, who I based the two alien creatures on. The red sky with two suns is a nod to some real-life solar systems that have two stars in them.

As a person who's always adored cats, the Bengal tiger is a feline I have always admired for it's majestic behavior and resplendent striped coat. My love for animals has awakened a passion inside that has driven me to create realistic animal portraits such as these. I hope this simple drawing can emphasize the beauty of the Bengal tiger.

My name is Raya. I really enjoy fashion design, and I got inspired for this piece at a beach. I always loved how the waves roll and overlap. The ocean truly is a work of art. I hope that you like my art! Please vote🫶🫶

Hello, my name is Alex Lynn and I drew Modern Italian. I wanted to challenge myself with shading because I have been deliberately ignoring it for a long time. I knew I was taking a risk with shading but I wanted to improve. I used 2B, 4B, and 6B pencil grades to achieve the dark contrasts that make light shades pop out. I faced many problems such as having trouble with proportions for the pedestal. I hope you consider my art in the final vote and that you were inspired by my image.

I love MUSHROOMS and I wanted to make something big so I thought I’d make a cute big Mushroom! It makes me feel really good and really proud

I like drawing and using lots of colors. I made this picture by imagining I am standing in the middle of a city and looking up at tall buildings all around me. The buildings are all different and colorful. I was inspired by New York City and how big everything looks when you look up. I wanted my city to look fun and bright, so I used many colors and shapes. This picture makes me feel happy and excited like I am in a big city.

Hi, my name is Addy! I have been taking drawing classes at Outschool for about a year now. I love to see my progress as the months go by. I was inspired to draw this piece because I enjoy drawing animals. Animals can involve a lot of motion and it helps me practice the techniques I have learned.

My name is Everett, I love riding my bike and making boats out of popsicle sticks. My artwork was inspired by the floating cloud kingdom in Ninjago and the elements in the Skandar Smith books

When visiting Washington, DC, I took a photo similar to this perspective. I found it to be an interesting line of sight, framed by trees and ending at the Capitol Building. When coming up with a piece for the contest, I thought of the photo I took. Using it as a reference, I sketched out the drawing before finishing with watercolors and colored pencil. Seeing the city and all the details the make it up is inspiring, as it reminds the viewer that there is more to a city than just the landmarks.

Drawing can capture every element, emotion, and feeling that cannot be expressed by words. This piece was inspired by space, which I find both mysterious and exciting. This painting gives me the excitement of exploring new worlds, and I like to think about what exists beyond Earth. It makes me ecstatic and hopeful, and the dreams that begin in our imagination can truly become our future. Do you ever wonder about what exists apart from what our very own eyes can see?

I want to be an astronomer when I grow up. I love learning about space, stars, and planets. How fun it would be if I could travel to space, visit other planets, and see the stars up close! I want to organize space tours for fellow galactic travelers so that we can all enjoy the beauty and wonder of space together.

My name is Kyla and I love Outschool art classes. I take as many classes as my mom will let me. I was inspired to draw this waterfall to create peaceful art and share peace with the world. This drawing makes me feel peaceful and calm, just like watching a waterfall in real life.

I’m Harper. I love to read and art. My favorite colors are pink, green, and yellow. I love butterflies and they have never been in the sea before and I wanted to let her explore a new world. The sea creatures welcome her and are kind to her. It makes me feel happy and proud that she is brave enough to explore somewhere new.

I like the game dandy’s world so I thought it would be cool to make an oc for like the alternate universes I make in my head so this is a more updated version of her this is Bowie

This was my first attempt at drawing with my oil crayons, so I drew one of the animals I've been learning about: an eagle. I practiced a blending technique to make the sky different colors.

My name is Allen, and what inspires me is what my art piece is called - books and food. Food inspires me to try other foods when I grow up and books inspire me to become an author and read the longest book in the world. This art piece goes out to my art teacher, Mr. Christache!

Hi, I’m Ella, and I drew this chameleon because I love unique animals, especially ones that can change and adapt. I left it without color so we can imagine together what colors it might be changing into. To me, it represents people who have hidden talents. Sometimes you don’t see what someone can do until they choose to share it, especially through art. This reminds me that everyone has something special inside, and when we express it, our true colors shine.

This painting represents anxiety and to make people feel like they are not alone because no one is and everyone goes through things.

This picture makes me feel happy. I was thinking of painting like I was in the sky looking down.

I made this art piece to show the coming of spring. I wanted to show how wonderful spring is, so I made this painting to show how a girl is going on a picnic because the weather is so nice. Spring is all about life blooming. Just like this art piece. Thank you!

This piece is inspired by my two characters, Cecil and Penelope who are dancing to one of the greatest pleasures in life, Music. Penelope is the goddess of the Sum and Justice. Cecil is the god of Wonderment

I’m an artist and percussionist. The leaf in the picture is a real leaf that exists. I got the leaf on a visit in Opelousas, LA to see a professional artist that has artwork in museums. Her name is Mare Martin and she is also a gardener. The leaf came from her garden and I painted a still life of it. I creatively added the background from my imagination. When I painted it, I was excited thinking about the colors and how to make it cool. I had fun with it.

it's my OC art pace kawaii space mew god Evee goodness family lgbqt

I really love to paint sunsets so when I heard about this contest I knew I had to make a huge one! This painting shows a flock of birds flying south over a forest at sunset. When I look at this painting I can't help but wonder, are the birds flying towards something or are they flying away?

I have a pet named Mr. Sweetie. I was inspired to make this artwork because I want to be an artist when I grow up. I took a class on Outschool called “How to Paint a Rainbow Dream Cat.” I was painting a lot of rainbow dream cats, and I eventually decided I wanted to draw a lot of animals and I chose a bunny for this project. This drawing makes me feel good.

Mia is 6 years old and she loves giraffes. There is a painting that hangs in our dining room of a colorful giraffe and Mia loves to paint it with watercolor.

I think the biggest challenge I faced was that it was my first art class ever, and we had to squeeze a bunch of lessons in a couple weeks. The butterfly I drew inspired me because it makes you think about the beauty of nature and all the things that God created. They remind us to care for the little things, and be content with what you have. The butterfly is also pretty to look at. :D you wouldn’t mind voting, would you now >:)

For my art piece I tried to make a character as creative as possible. I added features like a cool ring eye and I went for a manga style look. I made this piece look unbalanced and gave it quirky details that I liked. Voin is supposed to be a malfunction or a weird human but he ended up being a really awesome soccer player that's really nice (and funny) :)

I enjoy taking the architecture classes. I have learned a lot about line work and landscapes around the world.

I enjoy creating art that tells a story through color, nature, and imagination. This piece was inspired by a dream of a magical world full of birds, where the rainbow seemed endless and the moon glowed like the sun. A great crane soaring peacefully through the sky made me think of freedom, hope, and beauty. It reminds me to believe in myself, think big, and imagine endless possibilities.

Whether your kid is just starting their creative journey or has a project ready to go, you’ll find classes that meet them where they are and bring out their best.
Learners ages 6 to 18 in the United States, United Kingdom, (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland only), Australia and Canada (excluding Quebec) (see showcase rules for regional participation limits and award eligibility details) can enter if their family has an active Outschool Membership or enrollment. New to Outschool? Become a member today!
Not at all! The Visual Arts Showcase is open to every eligible learner, whether they’re new to creating art or already taking classes. They don’t need to be enrolled in an Outschool art class to participate. What matters most is their creativity, effort, and artistic voice.
Log in to your Outschool account and fill out the form above. Upload a high-resolution image or a 1-minute video of your learner’s artwork (vertical 9x16 preferred; max 150MB) and add the artwork’s title plus a note about why your learner chose it. If you have trouble uploading, check our troubleshooting tips or contact Outschool Support for help.
Make sure to enter using the parent email linked to your Outschool account. If a teacher invited you to the Showcase, add their profile link so we can thank them. Submitting for more than one learner? Fill out a new form for each.
Artwork should connect to the theme, ‘Something That Inspires Me,’ and must be original and created by the learner. If your learner uses any material they did not create themselves, it must be clearly changed into something new and original, not just copied or lightly edited. AI tools may not be used to create any part of the artwork. Learn more about our submission guidelines here.
Our team reviews your learner’s artwork to make sure it meets the showcase rules and submission guidelines. This could take up to a week. You’ll get an email once it’s in the Showcase. Keep an eye on this page for updates. Entries will appear here when ‘Showcase Favorite’ voting begins on or around March 13.
Submissions can’t be edited once they’ve been sent, so be sure to review your upload and entry form carefully before submitting. Each learner can have only one entry in the Showcase, and judges will review only one submission per participant.
Outschool’s teacher judges review entries for creativity and originality. Learners submit their work in one of two categories: Physical Art (e.g., drawing or painting) or Digital Art (e.g., animation or digital illustration). One finalist is chosen in each age group for each category. Showcase Favorite voting happens on the Showcase page and is open to those aged 18 or older. Public voting for Showcase Favorite is open only to individuals who are legal residents of jurisdictions where participation is lawful. Notwithstanding the foregoing, residents of Canada are not eligible to participate in the public voting portion of the Contest.
Finalists are featured in the live virtual event, and the Showcase Favorite winner is decided by public vote. Entries from Canada are eligible for judging and award selection in all categories except for public voting for the Showcase Favorite award.
The live virtual Showcase will be hosted by Outschool on April 25. It’s a free celebration of the finalists and their artwork, featuring judges and moments highlighting each artist’s creative process and inspiration. Families can join to view the artwork, hear directly from the artists, and celebrate their creativity together.
Two Grand Prize winners, one in each category, each receive a $500 USD Outschool Gift Card, a $500 USD Amazon Gift Card, a featured placement on a Times Square digital billboard, and a one-year Outschool Membership at the $70 USD monthly tier.
