I have always wanted to be an artist, and animals and designs like the one in my piece have been a major inspiration for me. When I began drawing this piece, it was not meant to be a “big thing”, but as my mind wandered and my hand took over, I found myself carefully layering colors and brushstrokes that I had not ever known I could create. It transcended simply sitting and thinking of what to create, and I know more awaits me in a future where I am inspired to create more extraordinary pieces.

What inspired me to make this piece is symbolism. Symbolism has always been a big and inspirational part of my life. It has encouraged me to view the world and scenarios in many different ways, and has even encouraged me to start writing a book which will have a lot of symbolism. I loved making this piece and i hope you feel the same amount of joy as i did making it.

Hi!! I'm Sheherazade ;D I'm 12 yrs old I absolutely LOVE astronomy and outer space!!!! That's how I got inspired to make this piece. It makes me feel relaxed, at peace, and amazed because how how beautiful it truly is. I know it definitely looks nothing like real space butI hope ya still like it!!
I have been an ongoing Outschool student for 5 years and been improving my animations ever since. What inspired me to make this animation was my love for music, as that is what got me into animation in the first place. I am really proud of how this animation turned out, since it took a whole month to complete all on my own.

I love making costumes and characters, and then drawing them into different outfits and places

I have been drawing since I was 2 years old, and people have always been my favorite subject. This is my first realistic self-portrait by pencil. I've taken an anime drawing class and realistic drawing class on Outschool for a few years, but the way to draw realistic face is different from anime style. I enjoy both. It took me 3 hours to draw this. It was hard to get the details right, but I love how I look in it.

Hi, I'm Matthew. I like gaming, art, music, collecting things, and metal detecting. I made this piece because I was going through an odd period where my dreams were extremely vivid and colorful, but at the end would become almost distant and would fade to white before ending, almost is if they were trying to tell me, "This isn't real" before fading away. This piece reminds me of those times and makes me feel oddly satisfied and wildly confused with this strange period of bizarre dreams.

As a person who's always adored cats, the Bengal tiger is a feline I have always admired for it's majestic behavior and resplendent striped coat. My love for animals has awakened a passion inside that has driven me to create realistic animal portraits such as these. I hope this simple drawing can emphasize the beauty of the Bengal tiger.

Hi I'm Mariah! Ever since I was little I've always enjoyed arts and crafts. I grew to love drawing when I realized how pretty art can be. Black beauty is what inspired this drawing. My parents always affirm me and teach me to embrace my natural beauty. I hope others look at this drawing and find confidence and self worth in the skin they are in because Black Is Beautiful and all are too!

2026 is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar. Both my grandpas, from my dad’s side and my mom’s side, were born in the Year of the Horse. I like horses because they are cool and strong. I drew a horse’s head for the Year of the Horse and used my imagination to make it special. I felt very happy while making this artwork. I hope people smile when they see my horse.

this painting is using acrylic, It is my best painting featuring a man following a light with faith, I love this painting for all of the different meaning to it, i don't paint often but when I do I like it as a side project, I also play soccer, piano and I love singing!!

I love dinosaurs and I want to learn how to paint all the dinosaurs in the world! The stegosaurus is my mom's favorite dino and pink is my sister's favorite color!

As someone who has played music on stage and in many rehearsals, this was inspired by the feeling of being swept up into the music. The way that it feels when you are truly connected to what you are playing and it's like you morph into it. It shows how powerful that can be, when you can express so many emotions through a song.

Music has something to offer nearly everyone! If you like writing, you can write music. If you like an instrument, you can play it. If you like singing, you can sing. If you like art, you can make album covers. If you like organizing, you can be a manager. There’s so much opportunity! Throughout history, people have used music to spread messages of inspiration, and I hope that this piece inspires you! Music has inspired me so much as an avid singer, and I just love listening to it so much!

My name is Sercie and I love drawing people and their expressions. I have five siblings (three biological), so I’m always surrounded by different personalities that inspire my art. This piece is inspired by a homeschooled Olympian and the quiet strength it takes to follow your own path. I created it with markers and pen, focusing on emotion in the eyes and face. Art is my escape and a way to capture the stories I see in people.

I have a favorite tree in my grandma’s yard that feels a little magical. It is kind of hidden and I enjoy climbing up and sitting in it. My dog Skibby will often follow me. I also love the Fall and all fairytales so I added in things like the pumpkins and the little gnome. I also love fashion, so I designed a dress I would love to wear with little white butterflies on it. I enjoy drawing, painting and working with clay, so this art piece combines all of these things together.

I am artist, a writer, a singer, and much more. I enjoy being outside and around animals, and the place you will find me is in my room, in my bed snuggling and reading with my cats, or at my desk writing and creating worlds, in art or writing. I enjoys singing, and can be found singing my favorite songs. My dreams inspired me to create this art piece. I used bright colors and symbols to represent my bright spirit, and put a hot air balloon to represent her soaring creativity.

Hi, my name is Jemma and I have been passionate art since a very young age. I feel specifically drawn to realism because it helps me express the exact emotions of a moment when I draw. I feel inspired by seeing famous places and imagining how much my art might grow, and how one day people might recognize my art and it could become great. Seeing places like NYC makes me think about how many other unknown artists out there dreaming of becoming known for their art.

Hi, my name is Audrey. I made this drawing of a mother and daughter growing up. It shows them at different stages of life, standing together. I was inspired by this because even though they are both growing and changing, one thing stays the same: they are always together. In my Outschool art classes, I’ve been learning how to make realistic drawings but usually my art style is a bit more cartoon-like. I tried to mix both of my styles in this drawing. I used colored pencils and pen.

Hello, I’m Hayden! I love to read, play sports, write, drawing dragons, etc. I’ve been doing art class with Ms. April Taylor for a year, and before that, I have been taking other Outschool art classes. If I’m being honest, the inspiration for my painting came from a watercolor class with Ms. April Taylor. It made me feel extremely happy because of the outcome, since water color isn’t my strong suit. I owe my teacher a huge, clap clap clap and thanks! Thank you so much for your time! -Hayden

My name is Nola Mae and I have been riding horses since I was 6, For 8 years now, since I first started riding, I dreamed of competing at a place like CHP, and a few months ago I was able to make that dream come true and compete there winning first place with sarge, I used what exactly went through my head when I won, all my little 6 year old memories playing back in my head during my last stride to the winning last jump and all the hard work I did to get there

My name is Alia and I wanted to share this pice of artwork because I feel so proud I was able to make it. I am honestly not that focused on wining, but more on showing people what I am most talented at, but I DEFINITELY don’t mind winning! By the way, a Deadly Nater is a dragon that can shoot spikes from its tail and can produce a fire blast from its throat to attack if needed.

Doctor Doom is occasionally a villain, but usually just a nice leader trying to do what's right for his people, and he protects his country from sickness. Iron Man is a billionaire named Tony Stark who was not the best or nicest guy, but turned himself around and became the super hero Iron Man. That is a quick overview of the characters. They inspire me to work hard and be a good person too.

I love the ocean which is what inspires most of my art. Also the same with my family which is why I add them together. I feel like nature, family, music, & friends are what makes me happy - my art is my happy life. I named my piece "Family Evolution" because humans evolved from water! In the art there is a mountain; I was named after a mountain; McKinley. Finally, I included my Ipad because that is how I connect with my world and my art and it has my favorite vinyl album - it mean a lot to me!

This piece is a drawing of an eye with only the iris colored to symbolize how if we look into ourselves, we all have our own “super powers.” This concept inspires me as a person because it helps remind ourselves to never give up and that we all have a purpose on living whether you know it or not.

I am a 5th grade student who enjoys drawing and expressing my feelings through art. I chose to submit this drawing because it is my first realistic eye drawing and because an eye can show emotions without using words. In this piece, I tried to show a mix of feelings like curiosity, nervousness, and hope. This drawing makes me feel proud, and it reminds me that it’s okay to have a lot of different emotions while I’m growing and learning.

I'm from Canada where there is lots of snow right now. I enjoy going to the zoo and watching the snow leopards. When I look at the snow leopard in my picture, I think about how much I love to go outside and play in the snow. I like to build snow forts, have snow ball fights and go for snowmobile rides. I also like to play with my 2 out door cats who remind me of the snow leopard.

My name is Mariko, and I love to draw, both physical and digital. I also love music, and I was inspired by this Kpop idol, Wonyoung. She's part of the group, IVE, and seeing her unbelievable talent of singing and dancing makes me feel happy. I just wanted to share my love for music and drawing through this piece.
My name is Remy and I love drawing and animals! This art piece was made because we were studying the Amazon and I picked an animal to draw. This inspired a series of time-lapse sketches. It makes me feel proud.

Totally Awesome Outdoor Show, is a YouTube channel about bushcraft, survival and living in the woods, and it really inspires me! My name is Matthew and in this drawing I wanted to show camping on the edge of the woodland. I really feel the warmth of the fire and I'm so happy about it.

I'm Ashley and I love toilet bound Hanako Kun when I first watched the anime. Later my mom got me manga and I got attached to the storyline. The artwork and the title is from the anime "The near and far shore" I got inspired by the name so I decided to make an art piece about it. The 2 characters "Hanako and Nene" are in my art piece. The near and far shore mean the world for living and the other shore for supernaturals/ghosts. I spent 3 hours and 34 minutes on this drawing.

The first thing you should know about me is that I love to write - and of course, draw! This illustration is the cover for a novel that I currently am writing. It is a love story about a girl and a prince who despite their circumstances, build their own happy ending. This book in particular is inspired by my favorite author, Jane Austen. This story holds special meaning for me because I have been working on it since I was seven years old.

I have a pet named Mr. Sweetie. I was inspired to make this artwork because I want to be an artist when I grow up. I took a class on Outschool called “How to Paint a Rainbow Dream Cat.” I was painting a lot of rainbow dream cats, and I eventually decided I wanted to draw a lot of animals and I chose a bunny for this project. This drawing makes me feel good.

Hi, my name is Charlotte! This is my drawing featuring my OCs named Cameron (bottom) and Hyun (top). They went through a lot together, but Cameron couldn't save Hyun from the things and people hurting him. Cameron now has to live with the possibility that one day he will slowly forget Hyun's face, then his voice, and then him altogether.

Ms. Amy inspires us to draw landmarks from all over the world. This week we sketched the Alhambra gateway in Spain, in under 40 minutes. She teaches us techniques to be efficient and draw in our own style. This is my favorite after-school activity. I look forward to it every week!

Hello, my name is Alex Lynn and I drew Modern Italian. I wanted to challenge myself with shading because I have been deliberately ignoring it for a long time. I knew I was taking a risk with shading but I wanted to improve. I used 2B, 4B, and 6B pencil grades to achieve the dark contrasts that make light shades pop out. I faced many problems such as having trouble with proportions for the pedestal. I hope you consider my art in the final vote and that you were inspired by my image.

Hi! I'm Esme and I love drawing hedgehogs, acrylic painting, and paper quilling my own designs. My submission is of my new cousin, Lucy. Lucy has a cute turned-up nose like my aunt does, and I love her so much. I am proud of my drawing of her because I used all of the drawing skills I know: shading, blending, and making the shapes before drawing the details.

Hello, my name is Heidi. I made this piece because nature inspires me–it’s one of my biggest inspirations! The girl in the dress is me, being inspired by the beautiful world around us! By my house, poppies bloom on the hills around this time, and it’s beautiful. You can see mountains in the distance that are just a perfect backdrop, especially when there are clouds. I think nothing is more inspiring than nature, and that's why I made this piece showcasing that.

This piece is a reflection of how life can seem so good and easy and put together but from the inside it’s hard and complicated. I feel like the soy sauce is like sudden tears in a way. Like how maybe it’s unexpected but happens anyway when you are overflowing with emotions. This piece was a painting my class did and I was really proud of it!

Hello, I’m Ella and this piece was inspired by my family’s trip to The San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. I found myself drawn to the old still life paintings. Oil painting takes so much time, days to even weeks between layers, and something about going through all the effort to preserve this little moment really drew me in. While I’ve taken a few art classes in more modern styles and mediums, after this trip I picked up oil painting completely self taught.

Hi my name is Gwen, I really love to draw. I enjoy video games and hanging out with my friends. I was inspired by a video on YouTube that presented a beautiful painting of a forest with butterflies. It looked magical and gave me butterflies. The picture I created made me think, I did put a lot of what I was feeling into it. I don't know if you can see my sadness, but I felt better afterwards.

New to Outschool? Become a member today!
Not at all! The Visual Arts Showcase is open to every eligible learner, whether they’re new to creating art or already taking classes. They don’t need to be enrolled in an Outschool art class to participate. What matters most is their creativity, effort, and artistic voice.
Log in to your Outschool account and fill out the form above. Upload a high-resolution image or a 1-minute video of your learner’s artwork (vertical 9x16 preferred; max 150MB) and add the artwork’s title plus a note about why your learner chose it. If you have trouble uploading, check our troubleshooting tips or contact Outschool Support for help.
Make sure to enter using the parent email linked to your Outschool account. If a teacher invited you to the Showcase, add their profile link so we can thank them. Submitting for more than one learner? Fill out a new form for each.
Artwork should connect to the theme, ‘Something That Inspires Me,’ and must be original and created by the learner. If your learner uses any material they did not create themselves, it must be clearly changed into something new and original, not just copied or lightly edited. AI tools may not be used to create any part of the artwork. Learn more about our submission guidelines here.
Our team reviews your learner’s artwork to make sure it meets the showcase rules and submission guidelines. This could take up to a week. You’ll get an email once it’s in the Showcase. Keep an eye on this page for updates. Entries will appear here when ‘Showcase Favorite’ voting begins on or around March 13.
Submissions can’t be edited once they’ve been sent, so be sure to review your upload and entry form carefully before submitting. Each learner can have only one entry in the Showcase, and judges will review only one submission per participant.
Outschool’s teacher judges review entries for creativity and originality. Learners submit their work in one of two categories: Physical Art (e.g., drawing or painting) or Digital Art (e.g., animation or digital illustration). One finalist is chosen in each age group for each category. Showcase Favorite voting happens on the Showcase page and is open to those aged 18 or older. Public voting for Showcase Favorite is open only to individuals who are legal residents of jurisdictions where participation is lawful. Notwithstanding the foregoing, residents of Canada are not eligible to participate in the public voting portion of the Contest.
Finalists are featured in the live virtual event, and the Showcase Favorite winner is decided by public vote. Entries from Canada are eligible for judging and award selection in all categories except for public voting for the Showcase Favorite award.
The live virtual Showcase will be hosted by Outschool on April 25. It’s a free celebration of the finalists and their artwork, featuring judges and moments highlighting each artist’s creative process and inspiration. Families can join to view the artwork, hear directly from the artists, and celebrate their creativity together.
