The first thing I notice when I look at something is its color. I’ve been doing art for about a year. I mostly draw people but also enjoy drawing realistic things from a reference. I taught myself how to use Procreate by watching other artists online. I always listen to music when I draw. While I was drawing this, I was listening to “The Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel. The candle makes me feel satisfied at how the light and color blend together to create a realistic image.

Despite the fact I am usually doing dragon-themed things, the thing that inspires me most is the night sky, the deep colors, and the stunning Northern Lights in this photo. I may not win, however, this piece of art was incredibly fun to draw, as well as it being the first detailed background/scenic picture I've ever done! Thank for you for reading!

Hi,I'm Olivia I drew this during Covid while worried about things in the world & we stayed at home a lot. First the virus, sick people, then the fires in our neighborhood, houses burnt, smoke was everywhere. I saw littering everywhere too at the beach and water showed high bacteria. The world felt stressed like me. I wished for something to change all of that. Learning flags of countries in geography made me think of creating a world peace sign & a hope drawing for things to get better one day.

In this story the meteor shower causes fire and Robo Dino was the only dinosaur to survive. He lost parts of his body but found a robot body that he used to save himself. Now he is happy to start a new life in the city. This drawing makes me feel happy that the dinosaur survived and escaped the fire.

Hello! I love creating digital art on my iPad. I specifically love drawing people and or animals. What inspired my piece was lotus flowers, which you can find on the outside of the drawing. They're one of my favourite flowers, and I love drawing them. I wanted to create an art piece where I could draw a whole bunch of them! I love how colorful the drawing is; it makes me feel happy. My dog inspired me to make this drawing. She is very cute and fuzzy but I love her personality best. She is very energetic and sweet. I also love watching her sleep. I made the art piece using pencils. The pencils I used were 2B, 4B and 6B. This was the first time I’ve used different pencil grades. Some of the trials I’ve had with this drawing were getting the shapes right and getting the lines straight. But the biggest struggle I had was getting the lines light enough.

I drew this artwork as a reminder of both downtown Charleston, SC & downtown Augusta, GA. Downtown Charleston has the cobblestone streets and a candy store by the market I would go to buy candy from with my family. The dress I drew in the window reminds me of an alteration shop in downtown Augusta I once visited and saw a beautiful dress in the window of the store. Both places make me feel nice and sweet because I've had great experiences at those places and loved putting them into my artwork.

So I based this piece off of the idea of conserving and having industrialization and cities being in harmony and intertwined with the natural world. It makes me feel hopeful for what humanity can do if we'd allow ourselves to function with nature and actually make an effort to conserve the beauty of ecosystems.

I enjoyed creating The Man in the Turban. This beautiful person of color has so much emotion in his eyes. I wanted to capture it! Experimenting with texture in the jewelry, wrinkles, and turban challenged me, in a fun way! They required time and concentration to get just right. Hello! My name is Adalynn! This piece is inspired by my love for animals. While drawing it, I initially struggled because my cat's ears were too tall and skinny. I had mistakenly drawn over the ears with colored pencil, which made it impossible to erase. I overcame this problem by using a sand eraser, which was the perfect tool for the job. Hi! My name is Oliver, and recently I've been super fixated on the game Undertale so I decided to draw my favorite character from it, Mettaton!
