When your kid makes a piece of art, they’re also building confidence, processing feelings, and creating connections. That’s what we’re celebrating with the Outschool Visual Arts Showcase—and your kid could win up to $1,000 USD* in prize value, a one-year Outschool Membership and a billboard in Times Square!

What inspired me was my main therian mask I made as a human like version. I thought it would be cool to make her a human in a unsettling but cute way. It makes me feel more confident to be weird and who I am and also creative. She honestly IS me but a psycho version.

Hi my name is Vivian! This is a Starry Night inspired painting that I made using palette knives. You might not be able to see in the picture, but the texture is spiked. This painting, and the original, make me feel calm. When painting this I felt a sense of awe for how difficult it would've been for Van Gogh to capture the beautiful scene.

Hello, my name is Alex Lynn and I drew Modern Italian. I wanted to challenge myself with shading because I have been deliberately ignoring it for a long time. I knew I was taking a risk with shading but I wanted to improve. I used 2B, 4B, and 6B pencil grades to achieve the dark contrasts that make light shades pop out. I faced many problems such as having trouble with proportions for the pedestal. I hope you consider my art in the final vote and that you were inspired by my image.

My name is Caroline. My artwork is inspired by NASA’s female astronauts who have helped expand human exploration of space. Their courage inspire me to dream about the future, to become an astronaut and explore outer space, to help humanity better understand the universe. The red and white koi (fish flowing around the astronaut’s helmet ) are known for swimming upstream, representing humanity’s determination to overcome challenges and push beyond limits even when faced with uncertainty.

This painting represents my memories of summer holidays spent in Poland at my grandma’s countryside home. Every summer I would visit her, and the landscape around the village was full of golden fields and large round hay bales after the harvest. I remember the warm sun, the smell of fresh grass and straw, and the peaceful feeling of being surrounded by nature, which contrasted so much with what I am used to living in New York City.

My name is Sercie and I love drawing people and their expressions. I have five siblings (three biological), so I’m always surrounded by different personalities that inspire my art. This piece is inspired by a homeschooled Olympian and the quiet strength it takes to follow your own path. I created it with markers and pen, focusing on emotion in the eyes and face. Art is my escape and a way to capture the stories I see in people.

My name is Madissan, and I enjoy expressing myself through art. I created this drawing as a way to practice and improve my shading skills, which is something I’ve been really interested in learning. I wanted to see how I could use light and dark values to make my artwork look more realistic and detailed. This piece was inspired by my desire to challenge myself and grow as an artist. While working on it, I focused on blending and adding depth to bring the drawing to life. Art makes me feel good.

Something that inspires me is the idea that robots can help people and improve communities in the future. I enjoy robotics and engineering because they, along with creativity, can be used to solve problems and make life easier. My LEGO creation, “S.E.R.V.” (Scorpion Emergency Response Vehicle), was inspired by the idea of a robot that could help during emergencies and dangerous situations. I designed it to show strength, multifunctionality, and the ability to protect and even rescue people.

I’m a young artist who’s been drawing digitally for the past nine years. I’ve always had a sort of fascination with cities and the mystical appeal they have at night. The idea of so many different people of varying origins having so many different experiences all in one place always appealed to me. The serenity that a night cityscape offers is what inspired me to create this piece and I sought to capture the sort of contemplative, deeply soothed atmosphere that only a glowing city can provide.

This piece is inspired by my parents. The tree represents growth, strength, and the ability to adapt to stress. The dove symbolizes peace. This work represents how i look at the world, instead of being angry at little things, it allows me to change my ways and Look at the things for the better.ultimately showing that even if you struggle, you can pick it right back up. Showing how it represents my development in my skills, not just as an artist but as a person.

Hello, my name is Laila. I never seen space and I want to see it one day. That’s why I made this art piece. I’d like to get into the rocket and fly to the space. My favorite planet is Saturn and the Earth. We live on the Earth and I love our home planet. Thank you.

My name is Thaddeus, and I love insects! They're different than any other creature, and even though they're small, I figured out that they have certain abilities that mammals don't. I think it would be cool to be an insect for a day. If I were a dragonfly, I would fly around and kill all of the annoying mosquitoes.

Hi! I'm Sasha. I'm 11 years old. I've never done something like this before, so I'm really excited! This is cover art for a book I'm writing called Enemies and Elements. I designed the cover to look like the four elements - Fire, Earth, Water, Wind. In the middle, I subtly added a fifith element, Darkness. I really hope you like it, and my book should be coming out soon!

As someone who has played music on stage and in many rehearsals, this was inspired by the feeling of being swept up into the music. The way that it feels when you are truly connected to what you are playing and it's like you morph into it. It shows how powerful that can be, when you can express so many emotions through a song.

I am a natural Artist. Art flows through my hands. My art is gold. I have a natural talent in painting since a young child. I also create digital art drawing from cartoons I enjoy, i.e. Sprinkles, Rainbow Friends, Smiling Critters, Minecraft and more. My favorite art form is Angelic Art. I paint in all mediums: acrylic, metallic acrylic, oil, fluid art, Impasto (Italian Art), Suminagashi (Japanese Art), tempera, sensorial art, watercolor, glow in the dark artwork, airbrush painting and beyond!

Hi! I am Leon, I like to make busts of people out of polymer clay because, I like how they show all aspects of the person. I made a bust of Ludwig Van Beethoven. He first inspired me to learn about music, and then he inspired me to start music lessons! I want to be as good of a piano player as Beethoven. He is one of my favorite classical composers of all time!

My name is Carter. I love to draw; it has been my favorite thing to do since I was two years old. I really love lions and big cats, so I decided to draw one. I don't just love drawing them but learning about them to! It makes me feel like I want to be with a lion. I hope that you enjoy my drawing as much as I do!!! Vote for meeee!!!!!

Hi, I'm Matthew. I like gaming, art, music, collecting things, and metal detecting. I made this piece because I was going through an odd period where my dreams were extremely vivid and colorful, but at the end would become almost distant and would fade to white before ending, almost is if they were trying to tell me, "This isn't real" before fading away. This piece reminds me of those times and makes me feel oddly satisfied and wildly confused with this strange period of bizarre dreams.

I competitively figure skate. I am at the ice rink almost everyday for about 2 hours. People tend to underestimate figure skating, saying it's petty or materialistic. Or they're impressed, only seeing the stage and the dresses, not the work it took to get there. Hard work, perseverance, and effort all go into it. The friends, coaches, and supportive parents all play a role making even daily practice wonderful. There's always something about stepping out onto the ice that always feels magical.

Hello, my name is Phoenix. I do not do art that often, but I do enjoy it. I did this in my preferred art style (the only one I do) which is a standard pencil and a fine point pen (also one of those super satisfying clicky eraser things). The thing that inspired me to draw this (besides the prize) was I was just thinking of what to draw, and I just started drawing, and bing-bada-boom, I had a picture.

Hi. My name is Alexis and I love riding horses. I've been taking lessons since I was 9 years old and I ride all year round. I participate in horse shows and competitions. Horses are so majestic and beautiful. I feel free when I am riding them. I also love brushing them. I especially love all of their unique personalities. This is a picture of one of the horses I enjoy riding and his name is River.
I crochet the tree leaves with yarn and used clay for the tree and painted it with colors that give a magical feeling. I used hot glue to attach things and make vines around the tree. I used gems and minerals also for the same reason and they come from the earth. Nature inspires me and trees support all life on planet Earth. I am inspired to take care of plants and make sure life is balanced. The art makes me feel happy because of the magical feeling.

I love painting, especially with watercolor. My family went on a trip to Japan, and I got to see the beautiful buildings and landscape of the place which inspired me, and I really liked Mount Fuji and the pagodas, both of which I decided to add to my picture. It feels peaceful to look at, since you feel like you are there with the lady in the pink flower kimono, watching her make ripples in the water.

My name is Michele and I have always loved Tim Burton films, including the one and only "Alice in Wonderland" remake. My inspiration was the world of Tim Burton. I have always been a fan starting with The Nightmare Before Christmas when I was little. I wanted to bring a favorite character of mine to life. This artwork makes me feel proud and happy because I put my best effort into it. The Mad Hatter is my favorite character because he is funny and I love his colorful design.

Hi, my name is Hana! I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, but I picked it up even more as of last year. I made this artwork for my sibling's birthday to depict our view during the concert of K-pop group Seventeen. We had such an amazing time so I tried my best to capture the magic and thrill of the moment! I am really proud of the color and detail in this piece. Looking at it brings me back to the awesome time I shared with my sibling :)

Hi, I'm Ezra. I drew this because my teacher (go check her out on Outschool- her name is Mary Eckes) prompted me of the upcoming 4th of July which is the 250th birthday of the US. I thought I would do something new so we brainstormed a plan. think you should vote?
My piece is a hand-illustrated Macbeth spellbook inspired by Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Created on Procreate and developed into an animation, it reimagines the play from the perspective of the Weird Sisters. I began using Procreate during COVID-19, shaping my digital style and technique. Each page reflects Macbeth’s shift from honor to moral decline, using symbolism such as blood and animal imagery to show his loss of humanity and the lasting consequences of ambition.

I am entering my art because the ocean inspires me so much. It is something my mom and I both love and it makes me feel happy and calm. I recently got to go scuba diving and seeing life underwater was way better than learning in a book. I love nature and animals and the ocean has so much of both. It is powerful but also peaceful. I love sitting with my mom, watching the sunset, and talking. Those moments are special to me and mean a lot. I love painting scenes, and my mom loves watching me.

The picture is called Spring. It makes me feel calm and happy. I like how the sky looks soft and colorful at the end of the day. I am a child. I love drawing, especially with paints. I like playing with my cat and my friends.

This is a character from Forsaken, a roblox game, and he is my favorite character. I drew him because he has a very easy and simple design! What inspired me was my brother, because he really likes that game and made a drawing of all the characters for our art class, so I thought I'd make one as well of just one character.

Hello, and my name is Shrika. When I read the theme, “Something that inspires me”, I immediately thought of my recent trip to Spain. The Royal Palace of Madrid, where I saw regal paintings at every corner, felt refreshing to finally see a beautiful, authentic piece of art in these times. Times of Artificial Intelligence everywhere, rotting our minds. This is my “Cure”, finding hope in the past when the future doesn’t seem so bright. Please enjoy this work of Apollo shining his light upon all.

I enjoy painting because it allows my creativity and imagination to come alive on canvas. This drawing captures a white-tailed deer who is wandering in woods without any fear and hesitation. I get inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding us including plants, animals and surreal nature. This reminds us that boundaries and rules are for humans, we should be free to wander, explore and choose our path to success.

Hi, I’m Ella, and I drew this chameleon because I love unique animals, especially ones that can change and adapt. I left it without color so we can imagine together what colors it might be changing into. To me, it represents people who have hidden talents. Sometimes you don’t see what someone can do until they choose to share it, especially through art. This reminds me that everyone has something special inside, and when we express it, our true colors shine.

Hi, I'm Samantha! My art piece was inspired by mindfulness and self-reflection. I chose the words aspiring, peace, hope, love, passion and reflection because they inspire and resonate with me. I love art because it is a beautiful way to express yourself and inspires hope.

Im Lacey, military child following her dad. Just pulled from the sunshine of Florida to the winter of the Midwest. My piece is inspired by the warm sun that my skin misses so deeply. It makes me feel that Gods masterpiece is worth sharing. We are created to create.

Hi, I'm Bay and ever since I was little, I've loved drawing my favorite characters and making up my own, giving them past and motivation. I've also always loved role-playing (and later, DND). I could take a break from the real world and go on an epic quest. Then I got Minecraft. The fact that you could create your own world and style of playing was so inspiring. So I took those three interests and challenged myself to draw my Minecraft character, and I was happily surprised by the result!!

Why I drew this picture of Kirby, Meta Knight, Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede, Marx, and Parasol Waddle Dee is because it reminds me of my childhood playing all different kinds of Kirby on the Wii, GameCube, and SNES. I always played with my mom so it is a thing with us to play Kirby cause we love it. Marx is my favorite character because I think he resembles me in his wild goofy way. Plus I'm short and good at balancing on balls.

I am a passionate young artist who loves animation and traditional art. My piece was inspired by my daily life. At the center are my adorable pugs, Mochi and Morita, my biggest inspiration. The floating icons represent my artistic world—making videos, drawing, and animating. Looking at this drawing makes me feel proud and peaceful. It reminds me that art is my safe space. Creating this makes me feel incredibly free and joyful because it shows the world exactly who I am inside.

My name is Coralie and my family has a bird feeder. We like watching birds and so does our cat, so I asked them for their favourite birds and painted them. ( I didn't ask our cat).

I'm Ella-Gayle. I love to read, and I especially enjoy drawing. I have been drawing my whole life. I do digital art as well. My favorite Outschool classes are 'Draw Every Day' with Mr. Dustin and 'Procreate Studio' with Ms. Uli. I call this drawing "Meg", and it was inspired by Disney Princesses. It makes me feel like I am a Disney Character Designer. When I grow up, I want to be a famous artist.

I’ve been drawing ever since I was little. I did this because I always think everyone needs freedom in life, having dreams and not giving up, following them. I sometimes give my characters this feeling of freedom because the world can be hard, but still beautiful. Drawing for me is a way to express freedom and beauty.
