Students will learn about the history of the Holocaust through personal narrative, discussion, and a documentary called "Paperclips". We will spend some time discussing the documentary as well as other reading materials. We will also spend time writing personal reflections about what each individual is learning and taking away from this close-up study. Week 1: Introduction and What is the Holocaust? Week 2: Conditions Before the Holocaust: What is antisemitism? What were some of the common...
Students will study the process by which the Holocaust was allowed to happen and was accepted by whole countries. Students will view and discuss the documentary "Paperclips". Students will also analyze the world's response to this event.
I taught for 9 years as a fourth grade teacher in a Jewish Day School, where the Holocaust was a major topic was taught. I also formally taught in Hebrew Schools, where the Holocaust was taught.

We will be using the movie "Paperclips" and excerpts from the book, "Night", by Elie Wiesel. We will also use other eye-witness accounts throughout the class. All of these will be provided by the teacher.
The Holocaust is an extremely sensitive piece of history. I have taught the Holocaust to fourth graders before and I take great care to present the content in an age appropriate manner. I do welcome any and all parent participation.
