In this innovative self-paced class, learners will be introduced to the real-world scenarios of managing finances and making informed decisions. The course is designed to simulate the experience of adult life, where students will engage in practical exercises like paying credit card bills, handling mortgage or rent payments, shopping for a new car, applying for loans, and finding suitable insurance. This hands-on approach provides an invaluable opportunity to acquire financial literacy and life management skills in a controlled and supportive environment. Here is our weekly schedule: Week 1 - Budgeting and Money Management: Students will learn to create and maintain a personal budget. They will track hypothetical expenses and income, learning to allocate funds for various needs and savings. The week will include a project where students create a month-long budget based on a given income scenario. Week 2 - Banking Basics: Learners will explore different types of bank accounts and their uses. They will engage in a simulation of opening a bank account, understanding bank statements, and managing an account online, including setting up direct deposits and automatic bill payments. Week 3 - Credit and Debit Cards: Students will compare credit and debit cards, learning about their features, benefits, and risks. They will participate in a role-play exercise to understand responsible card usage, interest rates, and how to avoid debt accumulation. Week 4 - Credit Scores and Reports: Learners will delve into the world of credit scores and reports. They will analyze sample credit reports, learn how scores are calculated, and discuss ways to improve and maintain a good credit score. Activities include a credit score simulation game. Week 5 - Debt Management: This week focuses on managing different types of debt. Students will participate in workshops to develop strategies for debt repayment, including prioritizing debts and understanding the impact of interest rates. Week 6 - Savings and Investment: Students will learn about savings strategies and basic investment principles. They will engage in an investment simulation game, where they make decisions about stocks, bonds, and mutual funds to understand risk and return. Week 7 - Savings and Investment: Students will learn about savings strategies and more advanced investment principles. They will engage in an investment simulation game, where they make decisions about stocks, bonds, and mutual funds to understand risk and return. Week 8 - Retirement Planning: Learners will explore retirement savings options like 401(k)s and IRAs. They will participate in a planning exercise, creating a long-term savings strategy based on different career and income scenarios. Week 9 - Understanding Taxes: Students will learn the basics of income tax and how to file a tax return. They will complete a mock tax filing exercise using sample income data, learning about tax deductions and credits. Week 10- Tax Deductions and Credits: Learners will understand different types of insurance. Through a case study analysis, they will determine appropriate insurance coverage for different scenarios and calculate premiums. Each week's activities are designed to be hands-on and interactive, ensuring that students not only learn financial literacy concepts but also apply them in practical, real-life scenarios.

I hold my Masters Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in life sciences and health.
I received my Bachelors Degree in the field of Sports Medicine from Whitworth University. I completed 1,250 clinical hours in physical therapy clinics, collegiate, semi-professional and high school athletic training rooms, emergency rooms and urgent cares.
