Vocabulary Quizzes: - Administer short quizzes or flashcard sessions to assess their knowledge of ASL signs for various topics, such as numbers, animals, or food. 3. Performance Assessments: - Students will participate in an ASL song at the end of each session, using the learned vocabulary. 4. In this ASL class for children aged 4-7, I aim to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Some of the topics we will cover are numbers, feelings, time, animals and their habitats, and outdoors. Each week, the class will include a mix of live sessions, video materials, games, and interactive discussions, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. At the end of the program, the students will have a solid foundation in basic ASL, covering the outlined topics and the added winter-themed words. Teaching Method: My teaching approach is highly interactive and engaging. I focus on Science of Reading strategies with a structured literacy approach. I will use TpT, Faith in Literacy, Kahoot, and Core Knowledge materials and resources, among others. Each session combines a variety of teaching methods, including: 1. Customized Reading Materials: Tailored reading materials and exercises. 2. Storytelling: Use of engaging stories and narratives. 3. Interactive Games: Fun and educational games to reinforce learning. 4. Visual Aids: Utilization of images, charts, and videos to enhance understanding. 5. Discussion: Encouraging learners to share thoughts and questions. 6. Reviews: Regular informal assessments to track progress. Learner Interaction: Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with me throughout the class. Interaction methods may include: 1. Discussion: Engaging in conversations about the reading material. 2. Interactive Games: Playing games to reinforce concepts. 3. Singing & Signing: Singing songs related to the topic & vocabulary words. 4. Show and Tell: Encouraging learners to share their thoughts and stories. Required Experience/Knowledge: This class is designed for beginners, making it accessible to all children, regardless of their background. This class is open to hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing children. It is recommended that children have basic knowledge of the ASL Alphabet and have taken Tiny Hands, Big Signs Courses 1 and 2 first. If you are unsure of which class to place your child in, please message me.

- Students will develop their ability to communicate in ASL, using basic signs and facial expressions to convey information, thoughts, and emotions effectively.
3. Listening and Comprehension (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.2)

4. Cultural Awareness and Appreciation (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.4)
- Students will gain an appreciation of Deaf culture and the significance of sign language in the Deaf community, fostering cultural awareness and empathy.
5. Cognitive Skills (CCSS.MATH.PRACTICE.MP1)
- Engaging in activities like finger spelling and number signing will help develop cognitive skills such as problem-solving, memory, and pattern recognition.
While the CCSS may not directly align with ASL instruction, these adapted learning goals focus on language development, communication, and cognitive skills that are essential for children learning a new language like ASL.
