In this one time class, students will learn about and hear the wonderful story of Ishi the rock. Before reading, students will engage in an interactive slideshow by identifying feeling faces they see on photo flash cards. We will share feeling words and predict if those feelings will be seen in the reading. After reading the story, learners will have ample opportunities to share and discuss their feelings about the story of Ishi. Students will have time to decorate rock faces either on...
Students will improve their understanding of the many feelings we experience on a daily basis and learn how to develop a positive mindset when times feel challenging!
Two one page attachments will be provided to students prior to class. Students are invited to bring a small rock to class as their “Ishi.”
