Students will learn all about the different species of the praying mantis, their habits, where they live, how they are useful, and some other interesting facts about them. Students will also learn that the praying mantis is a master predator and how the praying mantis hunts. Students will view a slideshow and watch a short video with more helpful information about the praying mantis. Toward the end of the lesson, students will learn how to draw the praying mantis. There will be ample discussion time on student opinions and thoughts about the praying mantis.

There will be pictures and videos of the praying mantis and their habits in the wild. They may be shown eating or capturing their prey. They may also be shown fighting with or killing other animals.
