Students will learn all about different types of spiders, their habits, how they are useful, and why humans should learn to appreciate them. Students will view a slideshow identifying many types of spiders and interesting facts about them. They will also watch a short video with more helpful information about spiders. Toward the end of the lesson, students will learn how to draw a spider web and draw a spider to put in their web. There will be ample discussion time on student opinions and common misconceptions of spiders. The main goal of this lesson is to teach students not to be afraid of these amazing creatures and to learn how spiders help our environment.

Students will learn about spiders, that spiders are not pests, but helpful in the environment.
Students will learn that spiders should be treated with respect and left alone and that most spiders are harmless to humans.
Students will learn that spiders are not insects and be able to identify the main differences between spiders and insects. (Spiders: 8 legs and no wings and 2 main body parts.)
Students will be able to identify the 3 types and ways that spiders capture their prey: web spinners, hunters, and ambush spiders.
Students will learn about different kinds of spiders.

There will be pictures and videos of lots of different spiders and their habits in the wild. They may be shown eating or capturing their prey. They may also be shown fighting with or killing other animals.
供應清單
For drawing the spider web and spider: Students will only need a pencil, white construction paper, and a black crayon or marker. If they would prefer to draw the web on black construction paper, they may use a white crayon or chalk instead.
