This single class is designed for beginning ESL students and young emergent readers. The class focuses on a single simple story, with activities designed to help students build vocabulary and reading skills. All resources and activities are online, so students can clearly see the text and visuals. I adapt my teaching to meet the need of my learners, so each session is unique to that group. Through songs and games, students are supported and encouraged students to read the book independently...
- Sing a warm-up song to introduce the topic and vocabulary.
- Play a vocabulary game with fun visuals and sound effects
- Read a short story with predictable text using repeated sentence patterns
- Practice basic sight words from the story
I am an American educator with almost 30 years experience teaching students from around the world, in both brick and mortar classrooms and online. I have an MA in Early Childhood Education and a Georgia state teaching license in Elementary Education and ESOL.
