Did you know that (according to readingfoundation.org) reading for 20 minutes a day gives students an advantage over those who do not? 📚 Let's make reading fun and easy for your student by setting aside 20 minutes every day for us to read together! This may not only help improve their reading skills, but also enhance their overall academic performance. In this 1-on-1 class, I, Teacher Adams, will listen to your student read for 20 minutes, using the book of their choice. I will informally check their fluency, phonetic decoding, blending and comprehension. I use a variety of programs such as: SIPPS, Heggerty, Orton Gillingham, SNAP Words, The Science of Reading, as well as, my ESL, TEYL, TEFL, TESOL training. This personalized format allows students to gain reading confidence while identifying and closing gaps in their reading abilities. It is helpful (but not necessary) if you could upload a copy of what your child will be reading, so that I may follow along. I look forward to working with your student soon! **This class is set up for 20 minutes of reading and up to 5 minutes of free talk. The duration of classes will vary depending on the needs of the student. Classes run from 20-25 minutes.**

Thank you so much for visiting my class information page! In addition to having a Master's in Education degree, I am a certified (State, GT, ESL, TESOL, TEFL, TEYL) teacher who has been working with kids in a variety of capacities for over 25 years! I love teaching students how to learn! My goal as a teacher is to help students not only learn material, but to develop a love of learning as well. I understand that every learner is unique, so I strive provide meet them where they are. I focus on helping students learn content while incorporating important life skills such as: communication, problem solving, creative thinking and social skills. My teaching style is very learner-led!
Please note that all of my classes are ESL and neuro-divergent friendly. I strive to provide inclusive classes in which learners of all abilities are welcome. Feel free to contact me prior to class with any accommodation requests.
