This is a three-day camp designed to, first of all, have fun, secondly, learn about Spherification, and a bonus of getting to make cool-looking treats that you can eat! We will learn the science behind Spherification and then apply it to making the recipes for the three day class. The teacher will explain the science behind all of the procedures and then step the students through how to make the Spherification recipes....
Students will learn the science behind the Spherification of foods and then will practice their knowledge by making three different types of Spherification foods. Students will learn why pH is essential in producing synthetic foods and test hypotheses to determine the best chemical combination to create spheres from juice, ketchup, and chocolate.
Mrs. Barenborg is a lifelong educator. She has taught middle school sciences and also loves to eat! She has mixed these two loves into this special camp. She has degrees and concentrations in Physical, Health, Science, Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.
