• In this class, students will read eight short horror stories written by a variety of authors from past and present - each with a different style. • Students will also analyze each text, making objective (factual) and subjective (opinionated) observations. • Students will read a different story each week and turn in a completed text evaluation form before the next class • I will provide a brief video introduction each week with information about the authors and content and background of the stories. • I will encourage students to submit any questions or comments to the course message pages and reply to each within 24 hours. • I will post the full text of each story in .pdf format for each week’s lesson.
學習目標

Hello! I have been an English teacher at the university, high school, and middle school levels since 2006. My experience includes teaching college composition, rhetoric, and business communication as an adjunct professor; Advanced Placement Language and Composition, Advanced Placement Literature, British Literature, and ninth grade English honors at a high school; and the past nine years focusing on improving reading and writing skills as a sixth-grade English teacher at a high performing private school.
Prior to teaching, I earned an MA in English Language Arts Education, and before that, I served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years as a public affairs specialist (journalist).
I became a teacher because I love working with students and helping them learn. I've always enjoyed reading and writing, so teaching these subjects was a good fit for me. I believe being able to read well and write effectively are important in life, and I always do my best to help my students develop.
In my spare time, I enjoy getting together with my grandchildren,, going sailing, and playing the bagpipes.
I have also written four novels.
