Reading With Mrs. Rose: Book Club In this class, students will practice their reading skills with digital books and passages. We will work on questioning and comprehension skills. Students need to understand thinking is essential to reading. As an on-going class, learners can enter at anytime during the course. Please note, each week will focus on one story. The content within the week will continue from one class to the next. Each week will include discussion of comprehension skills for fiction or non-fiction books. The books and passage will be presented from a digital platform and powerpoint presentations. Video clips will be included when it offers further support of comprehension. Students will interact with each other through discussions led by the teacher. Books selected may change from week to week, dependent on student interest. ***Students MUST be reading in order to be successful in this class. This class is geared toward 6, 7, and 8 year olds who are reading independently. This class is geared toward learners who are reading who want to read with others, as well as the uninterested or disengaged reader. The books used in this class are early chapter books.*** Reading difficulty varies with each series.*** ***In order for me to assist your child while reading, I do require cameras to be turned on during class. I need to be able to see their mouths and how they are forming the sounds in words.*** ****A minimum of 2 students are required. I will notify you 24 hours in advance if we do not have at least 2 learners to begin class.**** Class format: Introduction of vocabulary words Read one chapter per class (students will take turns reading the digital book on screen) Discuss weekly comprehension skill Week #1 Beginning of the week of: September 4th Ick and Crud: Ick's Bleh Day Week #2 Beginning the week of: September 11th Ick and Crud: Ick's Bleh Day Week #3 Beginning the week of: September 18th Ick and Crud: Mystery in the Barn Week #4 Beginning the week of: September 25th Ick and Crud: Going to the Vet Week #5 Beginning the week of: October 2nd Ick and Crud: The Big Crunch Week #6 Beginning the week of: October 9th Ick and Crud: First Day of School Week #7 Begging the week of: October 16th Ick and Crud: The Big Snow Week #8 Beginning the week of: October 23rd Ick and Crud: Who Did It?

Welcome! I am a Florida Certified Educator. I have been a primary teacher for 20 years. I taught PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade. I have my Master's Degree in Brain Based Teaching with a Focus on Literacy. (This program was based on what is now known as the Science of Reading). I am currently continuing my education with the Science of Reading courses. I have also completed the Orton-Gillingham Associates Level training. I love all aspects of teaching reading and helping students fall in love with and learn to read. I truly believe in hands-on learning, using a variety of teaching styles to meet all students where they are. What works for one student, may not work for another. I am always ready to make changes to to help each and every student learn. I am married with an inquisitive 9 year old daughter. She truly keeps me on my toes as I watch her grow and learn. We also have a 7 year old Boxer-Lab pup who completes our family.評論
