Let's make an animated mini movie with Scratch. This class requires no previous coding experience although if the learner is already familiar with this programming language, they will have the benefit of focusing more in story development and dialogue. *Please note that some classes are taught in a single week, 3 x per week. Other classes are taught once a week for 3 weeks. You are able to choose the format that fits you better. * The class size is purposely kept small (no more than 6...
Students will become familiar with the coding language Scratch, be able to program simple moves and sounds, create characters (sprites) and add simple dialogue to a scene in order to produce an animated mini-movie.

Students will need a FREE Scratch account prior to starting the class. It takes only a few seconds to set up and can be done easily by going to https://scratch.mit.edu/ Students must have the ability to type and use the keyboard with enough proficiency to type dialogue and other items. It would be preferable if the student would have access to a separate device so that they can follow the class on one device and use the other one to work on their coding/ movie project. If that is not possible, students could use a laptop and learn how to use a split screen so they can follow both at the same time. For younger students, parent might need to be available for the first 15 minutes of class in order to get them setup and logged into their Scratch account.
