I look forward to working with your learner to strengthen his/her reading and writing skills! My approach to tutoring is to address specific coursework or skill-development concerns and to set goals to meet learner needs. To that end, I begin a tutoring session with a learner inventory to assess a learner's present academic strengths and areas of need. Based on the responses on the learner inventory and a conversation with the learner about academic goals, I create a plan for each tutoring session scheduled. Learners are welcome to share assignments or projects they are working on with which they need tutoring assistance or I can provide activities and exercises to address learner needs. Specific Areas of Expertise Include: College Application Essay Writing Academic & Rhetorical Essay Writing Expository Writing Argumentative/Persuasive Writing Writing Skills (grammar, punctuation, syntax, diction, vocabulary, fluidity, etc.) Literary Analysis & Interpretation

Welcome to my classroom!
For 30 years I've helped students appreciate literature, develop their rhetorical and creative writing skills, and better organize and complete tasks. A central goal of my teaching & coaching is empowering students with strategies they can make use of on their own, and in each class I encourage students to participate fully in our sessions together by contributing to class discussions and asking questions.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education, a Master's Degree in Literature, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. My current class offerings include literature studies, book clubs, creative writing and formal essay writing classes, and Executive Function coaching.
When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and traveling! :)評論
