This class is packed full of writing games to inspire creativity! I begin each class by teaching a form of grammar, a part of speech, and/or a form of figurative language and facilitate a set of writing games to practice using these language devices. Each week's lesson is based on a theme and is connected to a genre of creative writing: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or drama. Games are played collaboratively then learners are challenged with an independent creative writing assignment. If desired, learners have the opportunity to share their writing with the group for respectful feedback. The topics for the first 9 weeks follow: Week 1: Dare to Compare Week 2: Everything is Alphabetical Week 3: Extra, Extra, Read All About It Week 4: Collaborate to Elaborate Week 5: Flash-in-the-Pan Fiction Week 6: Dialogue Drama Week 7: What Happened Next? Week 8: Sensory Overload Week 9: Tell Your Story *Please feel free to contact me if the cost of this class (or any of my classes) is a prohibitive factor to enrolling.

Welcome to my classroom!
For 30 years I've helped students appreciate literature, develop their rhetorical and creative writing skills, and better organize and complete tasks. A central goal of my teaching & coaching is empowering students with strategies they can make use of on their own, and in each class I encourage students to participate fully in our sessions together by contributing to class discussions and asking questions.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education, a Master's Degree in Literature, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. My current class offerings include literature studies, book clubs, creative writing and formal essay writing classes, and Executive Function coaching.
When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and traveling! :)評論
