In this ongoing class, learners will read short books together about interesting topics. Teaching students how to read and understand what they are reading is my niche. I am very dynamic, expressive and creative. This greatly helps with engaging my students throughout the whole class. I love building rapport and getting to know each child genuinely. Critical thinking questions will be asked and modeling of strategy use will be conducted. 
Learners will be interacting with each other by having discussions on facts they are reading. The texts will all be at the second grade reading level. 
 

Some topics for decoding typically include:
-long and short vowels and patterns they may have 
-prefix and suffix
-compound words
-syllabication (closed and open syllables 
-singular and plural nouns
-contractions 

Some reading comprehension topics may include:
-predicting
-summarizing
-making connections
-questioning
-inferring
-visualizing
-main idea/details
-cause and effect
