"Phonemic Awareness refers to the ability to understand that words are made up of sounds. More specifically, phonemic awareness includes identifying and manipulating sounds in words."

"Phonics concerns the relationship between the sounds and written letters in a word."


In these tutoring sessions, your child will practice both phonemic awareness and phonics so that they may work towards becoming fluent readers with one-to-one support.

The goal of each sessions will be to help learners decode and segment words while also working to:
1. Notice patterns
2. Practice rhyming
3. Build vocabulary
4. Read aloud fluently 


*******Learners who enroll in these private tutoring sessions should be comfortable recognizing letters and producing the correct letters sounds for all 26 letters of the alphabet.************


Learners will be encouraged to read short phrases and sentences aloud and participate in learning activities. (I use Kindle on-screen for reading selections)

Learners should have access to alphabet letters. Magnetic letters, wood letters, flashcard letters, or printable letters are helpful for hands-on engagement and participation.

Hello!

I'm Tiffany. I encourage students to read for enjoyment and to get into the practice of challenging themselves to explore topics they enjoy through literature so that learning is well-rounded,  relevant, and fun.


I have experience teaching in the USA through AmeriCorps and teaching English abroad in Europe {Prague}. Also, I spent several years working professionally as a chemist (toxicology, food science, molecular biology, analytical chemistry labs) before leaving my job to become a home educator and digital creator.

Goal:
My goal is to help early learners develop reading and math skills while encouraging their curiosity about nature and biological science.

Philosophy:
Children were born with the capacity to learn. My work involves facilitating lessons that inspire curiosity and prepares early learners with a strong foundation in math, reading, and science.

I am a home educating mom to two little people. We enjoy learning about different countries, hiking in nature, and baking lots of sweets -especially cookies!
