In this four week flexible schedule class learners and the teacher together will work to plan, draw, and paint a still life using gouache paints. This class will cover the elements of art and design as well as observational painting and study of composition. Week #1: Learners will study compositional techniques such as the rule of thirds. Learners will be expected to explore the weekly materials as well as engage in conversation, planning, and sharing with the teacher and peers in the classroom. Learners can expect to spend 1-2 hours on sketching, drawing, and painting, each week for this class. Learners in this program will find success if they have: sketchbook and pencil/eraser watercolour paper - hot press 130lb - 8x10 or 9x12 (3 sheets minimum) Paint brushes including a medium flat brush and one detail brush. Palette or palette paper Gouache Paints Water containers (2) and a cloth or paper towels A small area to set up a still life that can be unmoved for the duration of the program.
