In this intermediate painting club learners will come together to improve skills in observational painting and creative critical thinking as we use Google map data to travel around the globe and work ‘en plein air’…. with a twist! Each and every week we will begin with a 10 minute overview of landscape painting basics, techniques for depth of field, value and proportion, and how to focus on the line of action. After introductions and overview, we will use map crunch to explore...
Learners will expand their visual arts language and problem solving skills while building a regular practice in landscape painting. Learners who join this group regularly will find themselves better able to identify point of interest, apply theories of composition, interpret their surroundings, demonstrate an understanding of light, shadow, saturation, depth of field, leading lines, overlap, and various colour facets of colour theory.
Learners will want to work with : Paints (acrylic, watercolour, gouache, etc) Brushes (medium flat, round, plus a large wash brush and a detail brush are ideal) 2 cups of water Rag or Paper towel Pencil & Eraser Ground (ie Canvas, watercolour paper, illustration board , etc - a ground that is most appropriate to the type of paint the learner has chosen).
