There are no live meetings for this class. In this class, learners will read independently, then do two activities for each short story. The first activity will be a set of reading comprehension questions, the second, a creative activity such as writing a diary entry, changing the point of view of the story, creating a score and/or soundtrack to go along with the events, creating a visual audiobook video, recording a skit, writing an essay, and drawing something representative of the story. Learners will have their choice on which activity they'd like to complete for each story. I will include vocabulary words each week, to aid in comprehension, but learners may also want to look up definitions for the earlier texts. There will be a literary element to focus on each week, while reading the stories, and to incorporate into the second activity. I will provide weekly feedback, and can provide letter grades and certificates of completion upon request. The stories are set around the holidays, mostly Christmas, but it is not central to the story. Moreso, the winter setting and themes of isolation are. All stories will be taught and approached from a secular perspective. That means, that though Christmas is mentioned, it will be approached from a nonbiased, nonreligious perspective. More details are provided in the syllabus. Learners will not have any live meetings, and will reference the pre-recorded lecture videos in the classroom. Certificates of completion and grades are available upon request. Feedback is provided at the end of the week, typically Sundays. If work has not been submitted by Sunday, then feedback should be expected by the following Sunday.

學習需求
Through my teaching experience, I have worked with autistic learners, as well as those with ADHD and Dyslexia in an academic setting. I try my best to meet learners where they are by scaffolding- providing supports and room for growth.
父母的引導和規範
-The stories are more spooky, rather than scary, and confront Victorian issues. All stories are noted, and parents/grownups are advised to look over them to make sure they are not too scary for your learner.
- The stories are set around the holidays, with Christmas being a part of some stories, and winter for others. Though Christmas is mentioned in some, it is not a vital part of the stories, instead, the setting and strange happenings are. All stories will be taught and approached from a secular perspective. That means that, though Christmas and Christian influences may be mentioned to aid analysis, they will be approached from a nonbiased, nonreligious perspective.
供應清單
All stories will be provided in PDFs in the classroom. Learners may want to bring a pen & pencil to take notes. They may want to print the stories to annotate them. This is not a requirement, and no supplies are necessary for class completion.
