ABOUT:

Welcome to my office! Sometimes it can be difficult to evaluate, assess, and discuss students' needs and abilities with private messages alone. Sometimes teens need to talk to me about the classes or need some mentoring. With this meeting, your teen can meet with me in a private in a live one on one video meeting to have a conference & a conversation. Parents are also welcome to join!

⏰️ If you do not see a day and time that is already scheduled that works for you then please send me a private message to request another day and time. Please note that I am unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays. I will reply back within 24 hours and do my best to accommodate your request!

🛑 WAIT! Please send me a private message BEFORE enrolling your teen and let me know which of the following items you are requesting this conference for:

1. To discuss, assess, & evaluate if one of my classes would be a good fit for your teen. Please give a few details about your teen, ask me any questions, and please give the title of the class(es) you're inquiring about via private message.

2. To discuss your teen's needs, abilities, challenges, neurodiversity, etc., and how we can differentiate instruction and assessments for your teen who is already enrolled in a class of mine. Please give details and please give the title of my class that they are enrolled in via private message.

3. To discuss issues, problems, challenges, or stress your teen is experiencing in one of the classes they are currently taking with me. Please give me details and the title of the class your teen is enrolled in via private message.

4. For your teen to talk with me privately about anything so that I may mentor them. Please give a few details in a private message.

5. Other. Please give details.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

A.) Your teen MUST be on camera for the live video conference. Please note that the meeting, just like all classes on Outschool, is recorded & stored, but will not be made public.

B.) If your teen does not arrive for our live online meeting after the first 10 minutes, the meeting will be canceled and you will need to book a new meeting date. Sorry, but no refunds for missing the meeting.

C.) I follow Outschool's policy on refunds: "Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase (until class starts)". No refunds thereafter. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Sorry, but no transfer requests.

D.) Please note that the meeting conference might not last the full 30 minutes or may go as long as 40 minutes.

E.) If you plan to be present please let me know in a private message. You will have to be together, with your teen, using the same device together during the live video meeting.

👥️ I am here to coach, guide, mentor, and support your teen & you. I am looking forward to talking with them to help them succeed and enjoy the learning process.

父母的引導和規範
We stand with learners. We are all learners. At Outschool, we commit to standing with all learners by fostering a diverse and multicultural community, where differences are honored, welcomed, and accepted. With education as the catalyst and technology as the tool, we are uniquely positioned to connect learners to experiences that broaden their understanding of themselves and the world around them through our collective love for learning. At Outschool, we strive to be OUTstanding by fostering a global online community, elevating unique voices, and transforming the way we work and learn. At Outschool, we are all learners. We are curious and continuously interrogate the inequities created by systemic oppression on education and learning. We have the opportunity to evolve education by creating a marketplace that reflects and respects the lived experiences of historically ignored communities. This work is never done. To ensure equity across multiple lines of difference and experiences, we maintain a bias toward transformative action. Here’s what action looks like for Outschool. Diversity We intentionally include fair representation of different social identities–including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, social class, physical ability or attributes, and learning needs. Equity We implement processes to ensure inclusion and procedures to eliminate barriers or imbalances that keep community members from having equal opportunities. Inclusion Outschool cultivates an environment where all individuals feel welcomed, supported, and valued. Belonging We create a sense of connection through meaningful experiences by connecting people, ideas, and resources.

😎 We're not in school, we're OUTschool & that's a big difference! My classes are designed for teens who are homeschooled and after-school teens too.

How I teach:

I have taken several EDU college credits while obtaining my undergraduate degrees and have earned a graduate degree in education. These classes have taught me how to teach using education-based constructiveness, humanist, realism, and idealism theories as well as brain-based learning. As a professional educator, I do the new approach of teaching as it has been thoroughly studied by scholars and based upon statistics and has been extremely successful for brick and mortar schools as well as virtual schools. This is also how we are taught to teach in my master's and doctoral programs in higher education. We do a "flipped classroom" model where students do assignments first, and then each student becomes the "teacher" in the live meeting by sharing what new things they have learned, things they found interesting, and things they feel are important for other students to know about. During this time other students can raise their hands to ask questions or make comments to ask the student who has shared their information, as well as ask me questions too. I also interject comments with important and additional information while students are sharing, so I am also actively participating. This is all known as the "open classroom" method where we're all in this together, as one big group with a common goal: learning and having fun while learning. We discuss what has been learned, analyzed, and concluded from the assignments together in the live meeting as a whole class. Finally, I give a brief introduction and guidance for the next week. As professional educators of academia, we no longer give long lectures of "teach" in live meetings which is an older style of teaching. Students don't assimilate much information during long educator lectures, they prefer to interact with one another plus the educator. We educators are taught to be more like coaches, guides, and mentors to our students, individually and as a whole class. We sometimes help to facilitate meaningful discussion by asking particular questions of the class in live meetings while the students are sharing their new knowledge. I ask the right questions at the right time during the class discussion to make it a great teachable moment.
