💫  Welcome, Bright Stars!  💫

Join us in a fun and exciting adventure as we learn how to solve math problems, together! Your bright star will reach their full potential and have fun learning with new weekly themes, songs, and more every week! Our class is a safe, supportive, and happy place for all learners.

In this class, we will learn how to count to 120, add and subtract (with and without regrouping), represent place value, identify shapes, tell time, measure, and more. They will build a strong early math and social-emotional foundation. They will receive expert guidance from a certified early elementary educator every step of the way!

Our class will meet 2 times per week (Monday + Wednesday or Tuesday + Thursday). No class on Friday unless I notify parents otherwise. Each class will last 30 minutes.

Each week, we will focus on 1 math skill and review it until mastery. We will be doing fun hands-on activitives and also digital practice to reinforce the lessons.

🎨 What We Will Learn 🎨 :
- Weeks 1-17: Counting and Number Recognition (1-120), Basic Addition/Subtraction, Skip Counting
- Week 18: Place Value (Tens and Ones)
- Weeks 19-25: Addition and Subtraction within 20, Addition and Subtraction With and Without Regrouping
- Weeks 26-27: 2D and 3D Shapes
- Week 28: Measurement: Length with Standard and Non-Standard Units
- Weeks 29-30: Telling Time (Hour and Half-Hour)
- Week 31: Fractions (Whole, Half and Fourths)
- Week 32: Simple Repeated Addition, Review all math skills

🎨 Circle Time 🎨 (Both Days):
- Greetings/Hello Song
- Review the calendar
- Discuss the days of the week and months of the year

🧮 Math Block 🧮 (Wednesdays/Thursdays):
- Focus on the math skill of the week
- Review numbers 0-120
- Fun brain break

👋 End of Class 👋 (Both Days):
- Sharing time: Students can share their worksheets, one thing they loved about the class, or one item that represents the math skill of the week! 

📚 Ongoing Support 📚

I will provide parents with worksheets to print and have their learners complete during or after class. These are optional and your child can use a whiteboard or blank paper at home if you would prefer. Crayons or colored pencils are helpful to have during class time.

I will mute all students when needed to minimize background noise. Please make sure your learner either knows how to mute/unmute. Please sit with them during class so they are able to share when it's their turn. I want your little learner to feel excited to share and not get frustrated when they cannot unmute themselves. From the teacher side of Zoom, we can only "ask to unmute" but the student will have to actually click the button to unmute themselves.

This newsletter will be a valuable resource for you, containing weekly topics we will cover, any schedule changes, and helpful tips and tricks to support your learners at home.
