In this discussion-based class, learners will have an assignment to read prior to each session, and then will come together for a profound and deep discussion of the main traits of several of the characters, and the life of the author, who experienced first-hand what happened in the book. We will be discussing themes and thesis statements and supporting that conversation with specific facts from the book while discussing the plot events, turning points and settings . Learning goals will include, but not limited to, learners review, gaining strength and practice in understanding vocabulary both from the time and from the context of the book, and also actions of protagonist and antagonist, the genre of a memoir, conflict in turning points at this, time in history, resolutions, figurative language, voice, thesis and themes, and the concept of Who will step forward to help those in need and what role did other people and countries play in this catastrophic time.

Prior to the first class, learners should obtain the book My Survival, a Girl on Schindler’s List by Rena finder and read to the end of page 47. For the second class learner should read to the end of page 110.1 - 2 每週課外時間

A copy of the book, My Survival, a Girl on Schindler’s List by Rena most Finder. If you were interested in having your learner continue with one of the two essays classes, as mentioned above, please discuss that with me, so that I may get you the proper graphic organizer to use while reading the book.
This book takes place during the Holocaust time. And it’s specifically for the middle school audience. Having taught middle school for 33 years, through literature,this was a topic yearly in my class which culminated with a survivor coming in to tell his story to the students and parents. I also teach many classes on out Outschool that take place during this time. I teach with empathy, patience, kindness, and understanding of the correct level of discussion appropriate for this age group.
There is nothing more exciting than when you see a student think deeply, question ideas, share a new thought, or explore character’s actions/ decisions or a quote or a purpose the author had when writing a novel and then connect the information...
