This is a 1:1 ELA tutoring and/or enrichment class tailored to the needs of your learner. I will develop skills specific lesson based on the information provided by the parent/ guardian and simple assessments if necessary. Learners will learn and practice skills to help improve in identified areas. Possible areas of focus include: -beginning reading skills(picture clues, book handling, decoding, phonics, sight words, words families, fluency, letter, etc.) -reading comprehension strategies(responding to reading, predicting, vocabulary, context clues, summarizing, identifying the main idea, non-fiction reading, etc.) -written composition(writing conventions, pre-writing, story development, persuasive writing, essays, reading responses, narrative writing, non-fiction, etc.) *Enrichment can include a theme or area of interest like writing comics or a specific book or author study. Each lesson will include teacher modelling and independent practice with teacher support.

Hello! My name is Teacher Jo. I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I am a passionate, experienced, creative and motivating educator. I believe that every child has the potential to change the world and I want to be a part of that. I want children to know that they can do anything. I have 26 years of teaching experience. I have a Masters in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Theory. I was a classroom teacher and an Elementary School Vice Principal. I have an Advanced Certificate in Literacy Instruction with a strong background and passion for teaching students to read, write, listen and speak. I am also an artist. I have a strong foundation in Art Education and love to teach lessons that mesh the Fundamentals of Art with the pure joy of creating something.
