This one-time class looks as the life and times of Soviet spy Aldrich Ames. It examines his life and education during the early Cold War, his career within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the lives and careers of the team who uncovered his espionage. Also, the end of the Cold War, and the continued unraveling of Soviet Espionage today is examined. Especially noted is the work of the CIA agents who exposed Ames, as it was a team comprised of, and led by women. Previous spy cases...
- Upon completion of this class students will understand the life of Aldrich Ames and the agents who uncovered him. They will have examined how the Cold War came to an end, and how efforts to uncover espionage in the United States continues today.
I have completed a Bachelor's Degree in History, and Government and Political Philosophy. My thesis closely examined Soviet espionage in the United States from 1935-1955, and I have previously taught courses in espionage history to Middle and High school students.

Aldrich Ames struggled with alcohol abuse, and he had an extramarital affair. Details of these events will not be discussed in class but the events will be mentioned because of their impact on Aldrich's work and eventual decision to become a spy.
