중/고등학교 크래프팅 클럽(트랜스젠더 중심의 LGBTQIA+)

In this class, we could explore any number of topics- some relating to the LGBTQIA+ community, some not, but always student-led. All students are welcome to share their interests. We strive to provide a safe, well-monitored environment for students to let loose and be themselves. It doesn't matter HOW you choose to participate, or how often you join us. We are always here to hang out and lend a shoulder or ear. Please note this is NOT meant for therapeutic purposes. This is simply a social/art club for students looking for accepting friends. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE LGBTQIA+ TO JOIN. All students welcome with open arms! 

**If chatting in the chat box is more comfortable for you than using your voice, we are 100% okay with that! :-) After video check in, you're welcome to leave your camera on OR turn it off. Completely up to the student-- as long as we adhere to Outschool policies! If you are wanting to avoid camera check-ins altogether, please reach out and schedule to be approved by the Outschool team prior to joining class, as I do need to follow policy and do a quick camera check for student safety.** 

Arts and crafts should be accessible to everyone, so I aim to make this class affordable.

The supply list for the entire 12 week program will be posted in the classroom upon enrollment or shortly thereafter. Please note that while supplies will be the same for each student, colors and choices may vary based on the learner. If an item is out of budget or simply cannot be found, no worries. Students will always be supplied a free coloring page the morning of class that can be printed. Otherwise, the student may do ANY art they would like to do during class. All ideas welcome. And learners late to the class are always welcome to join, too.

During class, I will greet the students & introduce myself as well as demonstrate the finished project of what we will be working on in art that day. I'll facilitate age-appropriate conversation and lead the learners into answering some thoughtful (and sometimes silly) questions about their lives as we work together to make our craft projects. I will try my best to allow each student to have a voice in the conversation and help warmly pull them out of their shells, but I do try to steer away from making a student feel uncomfortable by forcing participation. This is a truly safe space and all learners are welcome here, no matter what their participation level is. With this age group, I understand the need to turn off cameras after check-ins if needed. If you would like your learner to not have to do camera check-ins, please schedule with Outschool to be approved before class. 

*Please have your learner reach out and let me know perhaps one or two things they are interested in discussing before class via private message from the classroom tab. I'm happy to anonymously fit it into our conversation. It can be an awesome ice breaker when they are feeling stuck or shy to hear their teacher mention something they like! I care very much about your student's comfort in my classroom! :-) *

The class will conclude with showing our finished art if the learner wants to, and approximately 5-10 minutes of chit-chatting & goodbyes with friends if time allows. I believe learners should always have free time to talk with other kids in a non-structured way to connect on a deeper level! Conversations will be monitored for safety and no personal info or gamertags allowed to be shared. Hope to see you in the classroom!
