This is a flex course that includes optional live meetings that occur once a week. The material is paced with two weekly lessons and assignments. The weekly optional live meeting will mostly occur Monday evenings, but this can be adjusted to accommodate as many students as possible. This live meeting gives the students a chance to speak with me directly and ask questions. In addition to the live meetings, I will be interacting in the student discussion board and providing clarification with comments on Google Docs assignments. Students will respond to weekly prompts through a discussion board. They will be required to thoughtfully comment on at least two of their peers' answers.

Students are assigned poem(s) to read and annotate. Guided Video Lessons will include different literary elements and poetic terminology with modeling to help students apply concepts. Student assignments will require them to answer technical and comprehension-based questions during poetry analysis. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Education. Poetry was an area of focus while completing my BA and I have classroom experience as a middle school and high school teacher of English/ English Language Arts. Poetry is often a disliked content area and I enjoy helping students connect with poems.
