In this FLEX class students will learn to multiply and divide whole numbers. Then they will learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals! This class will utilize discussion between students on the classroom page, videos with math mini lessons, homework assignments, and Kahoot! Each week: ~ A math mini lesson video will be posted on Monday and Wednesday each week! ~ At least one game per week will be posted! ~ A homework assignment will be posted on Monday and Wednesday. Students will complete the assignment and submit a picture of their work to me through a message by 5pm EST each Friday. I will provide feedback on each assignment and the students will make corrections and resubmit. ~ students will write their own word problem at the end of each week and post it in the classroom page. Other students will solve their problem! Student to student interaction: ~ Students can post a picture of their points after playing the game! ~ At the end of each week the learner will post their own word problem about the topic being learned. They will also answer one of their classmates word problems! Student to Teacher interaction: ~ The student will complete two homework assignments each week and submit them to me via message. I will give prompt feedback to the student so that they can submit corrections! Topics are as follows: Week 1: Multi-digit whole number multiplication with the standard algorithm, word problems. Week 2: Long Division with one or two digit divisors and up to 4 digit dividends, Week 3: Rounding decimals, ordering decimals, and comparing decimals using inequality symbols. Week 4: Adding and subtracting decimals, multi-step word problems Week 5: Multiplying decimals, word problems. Week 6: Dividing decimals with long division Week 7: Mixed operation word problems

Hi!! I’m Mrs. Drye. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Math Education from UNC-Charlotte. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Teacher of the Year when I taught 6th grade math! As a teacher I focus on building relationships with students so that I can help them to build their math confidence. I focus on differentiating learning for each of my students. I can extend learning for some learners while helping others to review a topic that’s tough for them. I encourage students to share their math thinking and guide them in learning new strategies. I also keep class fun and exciting with games, discussion, and songs! I taught 5th and 6th grade for 8 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool my three girls. My daughters are now 10, 8, and almost 6! I enjoy exploring new places, teaching, and exercising!리뷰
