The New Era of Young Adult Books The beginning of each class will consist of a 20-30 minute lecture that may include videos, music, or pictures. The second part will consist of open discussions with guided questions. Students are encouraged to participate, either verbally or in the chat box. Each week students will be given the option of homework topics to work on independently. These will be research topics, and each student is to write a 1-2 paragraph about the topic of their choosing, movies to watch, short youtube videos to watch, or even conducting an interview. There will be occasional additional links to articles or videos that will be posted on the classroom page during the week. Students are encouraged to join in a group discussion on the classroom page about these, but it is not required. Some of the weekly homework assignments might include watching movies that were popular during this era, or listening to music. Students are encouraged to talk to family members who remember this era to get their opinion on life during this time. This class will cover some of the highs and lows of this decade and give students a better understanding of how all of this affected not only culture but politics today. All subjects will be discussed at an age appropriate level.
