My curriculum is structured to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills in an fun and engaging manner. All children are encouraged to participate each session.  👩‍🏫1. A certified teacher with over 20 years of experience in public, private, and online schools.

🙋‍♀️2. Help if your child does not understand the concept, please send me a message and I will answer any questions your child may have.

😉3. I utilize the chat feature in Zoom to answer questions and no one sees the answers except the teacher. I know some children are afraid to speak out and that is why we use the chat feature. I will teach the children how to use it the first class for those that choose to use it.

📰4. A monthly newsletter sent out the first class of every month or if you join after the first class, it will be sent when you book. The newsletter will include what we are learning in class, tips and tricks to help your student succeed in math, and days that we will not be meeting. 

📄5. A work packet for us to complete during class and also extra work in between classes that is optional for students that need extra practice

💻6. Occasionally we will take a virtual field trip that has been prerecorded.

 Below is what to expect during each class.

1. 📅 Calendar time- We will review days of the week, months of the year, how many days in the year and month. What is today, tomorrow, and yesterday? What is the date? What will the date be in 5 days?

2. 📝Writing Workshop: We will have a writing prompt each session and the students will get a chance to share what they wrote if they want to share. Students are encouraged to use phonics skills to help with spelling skills. 

3. 🚍Spelling/Vocabulary Workshop: We will have spelling words each week and the students will use the words in sentences. We will also learn some new vocabulary words each week and they will learn how to use those in sentences.

4. 📕Story Time/Reading Fluency: The class will listen to a story and we will discuss the story afterwards and participate in a story related activity. The class will have a chance to read a short story after the story is read. We often look for sight words in our short stories. We will also be working on reading fluency each class.

5. 🔠Phonics Workshop: We will start off with Heggerty phonemic awareness lesson. Now we will learn letters/sounds, sound segmenting and blending, digraphs, diphthongs and learn how to sound out unfamiliar words. It's the students time to read and work on fluency!

6. 👩‍🏫Language Arts Workshop: Now we will discuss grammar concepts such as nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, sentence structure, and correct a sentence that is not correct.

7. 🔢Math Workshop: We will review math skills and learn a new skill each session. Next, we will practice the skill together with a game. Then the students will do a couple of problems on their own for independent practice.

8.🔬Monday/Wednesday-Science investigation-We will learn science and discovery topics with new topics each week. We will do a science experiment on Wednesdays during class!

9.🏠 Tuesday/Thursday-Social Studies/Social Skills/Geography Skills- We will learn how to solve problems that we may have with our friends. We will also learn how to be a good citizen and learn some key geography skills such as how to use a map or globe. Thursday is Show and Tell day and virtual field trip day to different countries!

Math: Learn simple subtraction with differences to 20

Social Studies: All About Me
Activities: Create an "All About Me" poster, share favorite activities and foods

Math: Learn that a 2 digit number is represented as tens and ones

Literacy: Letters/sounds, sight words, rhyming words/word families, discuss the main idea of the story, practicing finding verbs

Science: Living and Non-Living Things
Activities: Sorting living and non-living items, nature walk to observe living things, creating a chart

Math: Measure lengths using standard and nonstandard units of measurement

Hello Everyone!! I love to teach fun and engaging classes for children ages 3-8. I enjoy being silly and singing silly songs with the class. My puppets and my own pets often visit the class. I have been teaching Prekindergarten for the past 8 years and before that, I taught kindergarten for 9 years. I love the energy that the young learners bring to class. 

When I am not teaching, you will find me hanging out with my family around a camp fire or traveling around the United States. I am also a Girl Scout leader in my community and love taking my Girl Scout troop on many adventures including camping trips, field trips and hiking trips. We like to earn a lot of STEM and nature badges. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as possible. When I taught in the local public school classroom, I would often take my class outdoors to teach if it was a nice day. So come join me in class and see what adventures we will take! I have been getting requests for classes during the after school hours, so I am starting to add more classes during the after school hours. I look forward to seeing you in class!!
