In this class, we will not only learn how to work math problems, but we will also learn math vocabulary words. I don't just teach skills, I want the student's to be able to relate the skill to things they do in his/her daily life. We always start off with a review skill of the day presented in a word problem. Word problems are often problem that children do not know how to understand and work correctly. We will look for key words in the word problem to help your child better understand how to solve this kind of word problem. Next, I will introduce the skill focus skill for that week. I use the I Do, We Do, You Do method of teaching. I will show the class how to work the problem, then we will work a problem together, we will practice our skills through playing games. I do utilize the chat room for those students that are not comfortable speaking out. Only I can see the chat and know which children need extra help. Sometimes I do utilize Nearpod, Quizlet, Math Playground, or Eduction.com to enhance my lessons and it is free to start an account with all of these and some require codes to participate. It's not required just an option! I want all children to learn to love math! Below is a breakdown of how our class day will go.

What you get with this class:

👩‍🏫🏫A certified teacher with over 20 years experience in public, private, and online schools that is passionate about helping children succeed.

📰Worksheets for your child to better understand the material

🧾A Monthly newsletter sent out the last week of each month for the upcoming month that will have the latest news of the classroom, ways to support your child at home, and upcoming skills that we will be covering in class.

What does a class look like?

1. 🔢 Math Journal Time: Student's will work a word problem in his/her math journal. Student's will get a chance to create his/her own math problem using math skills they already know.
2. 👩‍🏫 I will introduce a new skill and give each child a chance to answer a problem using the new skill.
3. 🎲 Next, we will apply the new skill on paper or by using hands on materials. I will provide the work sheets, but will also have them displayed during class for those that do not have a printer.
4.🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️I encourage the class to ask questions if they do not understand something.
5. 😊 Now it's time to play a math game! That's everyone's favorite time of the class!

This is an ongoing class which means that you can join any week and leave any week. Below is a break down of what we will be learning each week.

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division or properties of operations.
12/16/25-12/19/25
Review multiplication and division facts and play math games
**No class 12/23/25-1/2/26
⛄January
We will learn:
1/6/26-1/9/26
Determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers. For example, determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in each of the equations 8x?=48, 5=_/3, 6x6=?

1/13/26-1/16/26
Interpret whole number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56/8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number or shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56/8.

1/20/26-1/23/26
Interpret whole number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56/8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number or shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56/8.

1/27/26-1/30/26
Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram. Represent a fraction 1/b on a number line diagram by defining the interval from 0-1 as the whole and partitioning it into b equal parts. Recognize that each part has size 1/b and that the endpoint of the part based at 0 locates the number 1/b on the number line.

**No class the week of 2/3/25-2/6/25
💘February
We will learn:
2/10/26-2/13/26
Represent a fraction a/b on a number line diagram by marking off a lengths 1/b from 0. Recognize that the resulting interval has size a/b and that its endpoint locates the number a/b on the number line.

2/17/26-2/20/26
Explain equivalence of fractions in special cases and compare fractions by reasoning about their size.

2/24/26-2/27/26
Recognize and generate simple equivalent fractions, e.g., 1/2=2/4. Explain why the fractions are equivalent to whole numbers: Express 2 in the form 3=3/1; locate 4/4 and 1 at the same point of a number line.

🍀March
We will learn:
3/3/26-3/6/26
Compare two fractions with the same numerator or the same denominator by reasoning abut their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols <> or=

3/10/26-3/13/26
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams, kilograms, and liters.

3/17/26-3/20/26

Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition.

4/14/26-4/17/26
Find the area of a rectangle with whole number side lengths by tiling it and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths.

4/21/26-4/24/26
Multiply side lengths to find areas of rectangles with whole number side lengths in the context of solving real world and mathematical problems, and represent whole number products as rectangular areas in mathematical reasoning.

4/28/26-5/1/26
Understand that shapes in different categories may share attributes, and that the shared attributes can define a larger category. Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.

🌺May
We will learn:
5/5/26-5/8/26

Hello Everyone!! I love to teach fun and engaging classes for children ages 3-8. I enjoy being silly and singing silly songs with the class. My puppets and my own pets often visit the class. I have been teaching Prekindergarten for the past 8 years and before that, I taught kindergarten for 9 years. I love the energy that the young learners bring to class.

When I am not teaching, you will find me hanging out with my family around a camp fire or traveling around the United States. I am also a Girl Scout leader in my community and love taking my Girl Scout troop on many adventures including camping trips, field trips and hiking trips. We like to earn a lot of STEM and nature badges. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as possible. When I taught in the local public school classroom, I would often take my class outdoors to teach if it was a nice day. So come join me in class and see what adventures we will take! I have been getting requests for classes during the after school hours, so I am starting to add more classes during the after school hours. I look forward to seeing you in class!!
