1. Students will practice writing the following text: journals, emails, thank-you notes, descriptions, letters to the editor, poems, product reviews and auto-biography.
2. Students will critique and analyze text types to gain better understanding of how to write the text. 
3. Students will practice reading their own writing aloud.

Teaching writing skills, is something I have especially enjoyed. Creative writing, technical writing and journaling are all things I write and enjoy.  I teach English as a second language and teaching writing skills to non-English speaking students is especially challenging, giving me plenty of practice in instructing children in the art of writing. I hold a degree in Elementary education and have taught grades 2-5 in both public and private schools. I have numerous published articles as a former newsletter editor and as a freelance ghost-writer.

There will be one assignment each week. The assignment will be given at the end of the first class of the week. It is to be completed, and turned in (uploaded to the classroom) before the second class.

Students will be graded using the following rubric:  90 -100 A; 80-90  B; 70-80 C; 65-70 D; below 65 F

5. Complete sentences used                      up to 10 pts
